A bit spendy to be sure, however, I'm a sucker for a blued firearm. https://www.beretta.com/en-us/...iVjyH3qWVLukGGmRQf0h

Sweet. I wonder if an actual original 92SB in excellent condition would be less expensive or not. --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

I'd surely snap up a minty copy for $500

Would have been beautiful if they left off the gaudy gold lettering on the slide. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

Where??? Around $500 is the going rate for LE/mil trade-ins in Very Good condition these days. I have an original 92SB in Excellent condition w/ box that I bought two years ago for much less than the $1526 on that repro.

A mint ORIGINAL for 1/3 the cost, or a REPRO with gaudy gold lettering and incorrect grips for 1500+? Beretta sure makes it easy to pick.

Love the classic look with rounded trigger guard and magazine's metal floor plate.

| I swear I had something for this |
Not for me. Something I can't stand about the 92 is the front sight molded into the slide instead of dovetailed.

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1129739471 This seller has 19 available apparently https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1129699728 Am I missing something? Are these not real SBs or something? --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

I did buy a 92 Compact a few years back. With the manual of arms and magazine compatibility, I think it would have been a great replacement for the 92.

We'll see how it goes, but IMO, this is shaping up to be a flop just like the 40th Anniversary P226. The Beretta definitely has more going for it than the SIG did though - it's actually limited-production and gets almost all of the visual features right. The 40th Anniversary P226 couldn't be a duplicate of an original 1980s P226 because there was no way to give it a folded slide. Also, SIG never disclosed how many of theirs they made, but because of that "numbered" batch, we know for sure that it was a lot more than the Beretta. There's another thing that SIG couldn't do though, that Beretta could have, but didn't. SIG couldn't make the 40th Anniversary in Germany (the factory has been shut down a while now). Beretta could have made their 50th Anniversary in Italy, but it looks like it's USA from the pictures. Nothing against USA Berettas, but this kind of a marketing exercise would benefit from having the "correct" (more "authentic") country of origin IMO. Also, for both pistols, they cost too much ($1299 for the P226 and now $1526 for the 92SB) when an "actual" one would cost a fraction ($500-$600). This is why I think Glock's similar P80 and "Gen1" reissue had more of a chance to succeed. Real original Gen1 Glocks are very expensive these days ($1500+), and the reissues were priced similar to current Glocks (~$600). 1KPerDay, the ones in your links are real SBs. They look to be a mix of both used and new-old-stock Italian police trade-ins. The seller is correct about what GF (Guardia di Finanza) means. I'd much rather have one of those than this newly-announced 50th Anniversary SB if I were interested in this model.

One thing I've gotta spy for those 40th Anniversary P226s, though...they were nice guns and priced pretty well when they clearanced out all the ones they couldn't sell at the original ridiculous markup. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.
