I am trying to install an E2 grip on my P220ST (c.2003). I swapped the decocking lever, strut, and seat and then moved on to installing the grip itself. I am able to get the grip on and locked into place. However, the trigger bar spring on the right side of the pistol behind the grip flexes forward while pulling the trigger and then binds until it pushes the grip away from the pistol a bit. If I grip so tight to prevent the grip from pushing away, the trigger bar can't go back far enough to actually fire the pistol.

Has there been a change to that spring since the pistol was built that would allow it to work with the E2 grip?

With advice from the sigforum brain trust I used a credit card during installation on top
Of the trigger bar spring. Worked well. Not sure if there is a different spring.

This is how we were taught to do it in the SIG Armorer's Class. I keep one of those thin hotel keycards in my toolkit just for this.

I had that happen on a pistol I owned as well. I didn't know about the credit card thing until it was too late. Like the others have said, when you go to put the grip on the pistol,make sure the credit card,(rigid flat piece of whatever), covers the spring. If you don't, the spring can bind and will bend and once it does, you might as well throw it away. I had to order a few springs, as it is a good thing to have on hand when things like this happen.

Also, you have to get the newer mainspring if you have the older model,(longer spring) as it will also prevent you from pulling the trigger all the way.
