226 E2 grip removal to standard grip

10x Sniper226 E2 grip removal to standard grip
I’m looking at a used P226 that has the E2 grip installed. If I take this E2 grip off, will standard grips fit on the gun with just screws or do I need to replace parts to make the standard grips work?

DevereauxJust make sure you have and get standard grips. Legions tend to have slightly different grip cut outs, especially for the slide hold-open.

10x SniperIt’s a standard 226 that the previous owner must have put those stupid grips on. I can’t stand them.

Blume9mmthere are some of us who are possibly demented that really think the E2 grips are the best choice followed by the G10s..... Have never liked the factory grips... way too thick.

A buddy of mine said he hated them and would rather have some G10s.
We traded and couldn't have been happier.

I agree 100%. The E2 grips give the gun a different feel.
Also, when you install and/or remove the E2 grips, check on Youtube for the credit card for trick in order to prevent damage to the trigger bar spring if you don't have the E2 grip removal tool. I have damaged a few springs over the years putting them on and taking the grips off.

I used the Zip tie trick on youtube.
And i damaged a trigger spring.If or When i do it again i would buy the proper tool.
ALSO when i sent my 229 to Sig they replaced my houge extreme screws with a set of Factory screws.

And it is much better than the factory bolt on grips.... as others have also concluded... G10s are close. I made my MK25 into a BBQ gun with G10 Hogue/Sig grips... but then CCR also helped with me converting it to 357 sig caliber and so it technically only half MK25 now.

12131I like the E2 grip surface feel the most BUT despise the way it's mounted. No screws, snap-on, unstable. I wish SIG NH would make the E2 in 2 separate panels using grip screws like the Germans used to make for their P226 LDC II.

That’s the problem with the E2 grips half the people damage the trigger bar spring. Local shop is huge sig dealer and normally doesn’t stock a lot of parts….but now always has P226 trigger springs and is selling 4/5 a month to people damaging theirs.
The E2 feels good but G10’s are better

m.p.driverJust standard 2 piece grips and 226 screws, my 226R came with the E2's, just never felt right, pair of factory OD green 2 piece and black hex 226 screws and all is well now.
