SevenPlusOne228 vs. G19
Wasn't Burn Notice set in Miami? He carried a 228.
I say 228.

RichardCJumpin' Jehosophat, we gots us some narrow climate tolerant snowflakes here.
Buy Men's Go Buck Naked Performance V-Neck Undershirts from Duluthtrading and live with your CCW in any hot climate, humid or dry. (seriously.)
I'd sell them both and buy a Zev OZ9C COMBAT PISTOL, GRAY COMPACT GRIP, COMPACT BLACK SLIDE, BLACK BARREL sidearm. If its good enough for NNSA's Office of Secure Transportation personel, it's good enough for you and me. *cough*

Hey Richard, come on up here to Indiana in February and we can go trudge through a foot and a half of snow to hit up the range (just be sure to lube your gun with something that can handle temps down to -20 or so!). Then we can talk about snowflakes

!

Heck yeah, great reference! Love that show...that's a great argument for the P228

LandchipperIn SIG enthusiast environment, the expectation would be as you have received. However, the way my mind works focuses on which one you are most efficient utilizing. So, when bad occurs, you can respond accordingly and make proper use of either that you have at you access. YMMV
Too many SIGs .. ... Nah not really

10roundFor a long road trip I'd carry OWB leather holster. Since I don't like carrying striker fired pistols in leather holsters, it's the P228 for me.

0658You may be looking at this the wrong way. All else being equal I would ask myself the question:
Which pistol would you prefer to be stolen? For me the Glock wins every time.

ElToroI am a Florida resident. I was out in my yard fixing a fence at 9am today with my son tacking the bottom of a chain link fence into some 2x6’s along the ground with some fence staples to keep dog from escaping under it. At 9, It was already almost 90 and humid and after 30 minutes I was covered in sweat and that was only after pounding in about 20 1.5 inch fence staples.
I say this because it’s ridiculously hot and humid here about 9 months a year. I own g19, g26, 226, 228, 229 and steel 1911 among other guns even the 365xl. I carry IWB at the appendix. I wear shorts and t shirts pretty much every day except I can’t bring myself to wear it to church yet despite other men doing so. It bothers me. (don’t get me started on men wearing ball caps during church). I tried and want to ccw the big guns. Know what I needed up as my daily carry ? My Smith 642 and I’m on the hunt for a pre lock 340. Lighter is better. Depends what city and what part of that you go to of course. Trust me you will feel worse with a big heavy baggy shirt/over vest to hide it then a light weight small gun. Just my opinion. I also have a truck gun in case it goes down when not near home so there’s that.

Sig M11Both excellent pistols and I love the P228...
But G19 is a great pistol to carry
July 17, 2022, 11:29 AM
FotoTomasI find the G19 to be the easiest to carry of the two. It also is the easiest to replace.
Keep your weapon handy, live free and prosper.

DuelistI vote g19. Lighter and will handle the humidity better.
July 18, 2022, 03:14 PM
Ryanp225In all seriousness I'd choose the G19.
My nice, purtiful guns get shot at matches and the range but the Glock or M&P get carried and collect the wear.

BennerP220When I travel I always take two pistols. For reasons members have already mentioned. Usually a full size and a smaller, carry size.
Also, while I’d hate to have to use one, I’d hate even more to be without. I agree that the Glocks are the easiest to replace. My P228 SAS couldn’t be replaced so I’d hate to lose it to evidence or possibly being stolen.
July 18, 2022, 06:15 PM
jaybirdaccountantI like both, but prefer the Glock's features (finish, weight, capacity, etc.).
July 18, 2022, 06:52 PM
x0225095It’s the one you could best use to defend you or your family with should the emergency arise. That’s THE most important thing … right?
Unless you want your last pyrrhic words to be something quotable like “No. Surface. Rust.” before expiring.

Bulldog7972Either one would be fine. I just wanted some opinions. What would other members of the forum do. I appreciate some of the valid points that were expressed here, some of which I hadn't thought of.

trapper189I’d pack both. I carried a P226 for three years IWB in Florida until I bought a P239. Both SS slides and had no problems with rust. I also didn’t carry while sweating my nuts off doing yard work. My cars all have AC and so do most places I go.

Not the same situation, then.
