The wife wants a Beretta 92. Langdon Tactical vs Wilson Combat? Login/Join

After our latest range trip, my wife told me she wants to get a new pistol. So we stopped by the LGS and she was able to handle a bunch of things she was interested in. She really liked the Beretta 92.

I want to encourage her interest and spoil her as well. She has always supported my shooting and Sig addiction. As an example, she got me the new XFive Classic for Christmas.

I am looking for opinions on Langdon Tactical vs Wilson Combat. I have no experience with either other than putting a WC grip module on a P320.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Wilson 92's are very nice pistols but LTT's are nicerer. Does the LTT have Langdon's trigger bar & tjiab installed?

I have a 92 Compact that has a Wilson action tune and some other parts, and I have a LTT Centurion. I like and shoot equally well with both Berettas.

It's not a strict apples to apples comparison, I know, but I really wanted the non-rail Compact and Wilson is only a short drive from me. I got the Langdon later and I'm not good enough to tell the difference between the two actions. In my opinion, you won't be wrong with either choice of a Wilson or Langdon.

Had both. LTT, no doubt about it. LTT w/ trigger job is way ahead of WC w/ action tuned.

I have both.
I’d get the LTT with a TJIAB.

Both are great pistols, and she’d well served with either. However, if I were in your shoes, I’d call Ernie. Big Grin

Had both. Still have the LTT. Better out of the box and once I dropped the TJIAB in it’s an incredibly slick shooter. One of the funniest things I had happen to me in a long, long time was because of that gun. I was at an indoor range after installing the trigger bits and running the gun at speed more to check function than anything else. Because it’s a 92 and I’m shooting 115gr range ammo, felt recoil is very, very low. This makes rapid repeated hits in a small target zone at a close 10 yards very easy. I wasn’t intentionally showing off, I was just shooting rapid controlled pairs and a few longer strings just to make sure everything worked and didn’t do anything unexpected like fail to reset or double. My target of choice for fun shooting is a big zombie that has small scoring targets over each lung, sternum, and t zone.

Anyway, I’m minding my own business cranking through a couple hundred rounds (I miss cheap 9mm) when I hear coming from the lane next to me “Man, check out this Call of Duty <expletive redacted> over here. He got the cheat code on. Gun got no recoil. Don’t know what he did to deserve it, but he gave that <expletive redacted> a new set of lungs.”

It was all I could do to put the gun down and keep a straight face. It’s not that I’m anything special, it’s just a ridiculously easy gun to shoot.

Same here.....I'd go straight to Ernest for a 92 LTT, the man can do some magic with that platform.

Whatever flavor you can find that she likes. Both are getting difficult to find, but you can just get a 92X and send it to either for work.

Just get a 92X and install the TJIAB yourself. One of the easiest guns to work on you can buy. You will get 95% of the custom trigger job for 165 bucks.

To your question, not even a hard choice, Langdon in whatever flavor you prefer.

Gonna second this. Gives you probably the most flexibility and the fastest turnaround. If she somehow decides the trigger isn't up to snuff, and she won't, then you can still send it to Langdon.

I've had both. I sold them in favor of the M9a3. The a4 looks even better. Check one out before you buy.

Only thing I would add is LTT is the OG that set Wilson up into business. LTT is the horses mouth.

Thank you. God really smiled on me the day she said yes.

Thanks for all the replies. She has been reading the LTT website and going down the YouTube rabbit hole all day. Hoping to get to the LGS tomorrow to get hands on with the different sizes and grips.

I have a box stock M9 that came with olive drab holster belt and double mag pouch (obviously got it a long time ago). It works flawlessly and is very accurate. Only issue is here in NY we are limited to 10 round mags which makes my P365 a better carry option. The Beretta is a keeper though no matter what.

This is what I would do. I bought a 92X Centurion last January and it had a very good trigger out of the box. I already had a bunch of parts on hand that I put in it because I like to work on Beretta 92s and I shoot a 92 more often than anything else but the only change it needed was a #12 or #13 mainspring.
