I have a sealed crate of 7.92mm ammo. It weighs 29kg. How many rounds is in it ? Any ideas? I'm thinking 900 but that is just a guess based on limited internet search. I bought it so long ago I can't remember anything about it.

Some markings? Is it a wooden crate or a spam can? It's going to be 880 or 900, and probably in strippers. Most military surplus 8mm Mauser comes in 15 round boxes. So crates tend to be in multiples of 15. 900 is common. But some did come in other amounts. There's really no way to tell just by guessing. Any markings on the outside of the crate?
880 is most common with other calibers that typically come in 20 round packs, such as 7.62x54r. 8mm Mauser almost always comes in 15 round packs, since the 8mm Mauser ammo pouches used by almost every country held three 5 round stripper clips in each section. Some, but not all, 8mm Mauser ammo came prepackaged on stripper clips. Some even come on bandoleers. But there's plenty out there that's just packed loose in boxes.

Yes it is a wooden crate and it does have writing on it. My first couple of photos don't show them clearly enough. I'll try again in the sunlight. Thanks
