Stopped by LGS to pick up some ammo. Salesman observes I'm checking out 9mm and he hands me the Federal noted above. It appeared to me the bullet has a non-metal projectile. Has anyone tried this round? Problems with synthetic material clogging up twists in the barrel? Other comments? U.S. Army 11F4P Vietnam 69-70 NRA Life Member

You do not specify which federal offering he showed you as there are more than 1 Federal Syntech was introduced about a decade ago. It is a lead projectile surrounded by a synthetic jacket This is a replacement for the Federal Nyclad ammunition that has been around for four decades or more now The name Syntech just sounds higher tech and more modern than Nyclad The original Syntech offerings were in the American Eagle Line and consisted of just round nose projectiles jacketed in red. The line has expanded over the last 10 years to include hollow points loaded under the Federal name. Purple and dark blue jackets have now been added as well ------------------------------------------------------------------ NRA Benefactor . . . Certified Instructor . . . I got some 9mm FMJ fairly cheap at the Brownells store a few years ago. It shot fine, but every time I loaded mags I left like I was handling a miniature tube of lipstick from Taylor Swift. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Sigmund,
