Hello all,

Can Federal .45 ACP (+P) 230gr HST be safely shot in older pre-1998 and 2004 P220s? I got the +P version of this ammo accidentally.

Thank you,
Ian

1998 and especially 2004 production guns should be OK'ed for +P ammo. The only excessive wear would be on your hand.

The HST +P in that load only adds a little pressure and about 30 fps out of a 5" barrel. I wouldn't sweat it one bit.

My decommissioned 2003 P220 always did fine with it. That was our issued duty load back then. I still have quite a bit of it on hand. I wouldn't hesitate to fire all that I have through my P220.
