This looks interesting, if it works. There are quite a few quality boutique options out there in this genre, but they're expensive and hard to come by. Their supply is also kind of fickle...Underwood just discontinued my go-to hard cast .44 load, for example.

Hornady is pretty good about getting stuff on shelves and at reasonable prices. They also tend to stick with a product for the long term, and will probably also offer the bullets as standalone components.

If this stuff holds together and penetrates as advertised, I can see myself buying a bunch. Bullet profiles that are optimized for feeding in autos while still retaining a flat meplat for cutting penetration, and a jacket to keep things cleaner. IMO it has potential.

Thanks for that.

I was wistfully hoping that there would be some 357 SIG ammunition loaded with those bullets. Handloading? Sure, but not being motivated to get back into that endeavor, I guess I'll just have to get some 44 Magnum for my S&W Mountain Gun.

I notice there is no .45 ACP or .45 Colt. I guess they’re not popular woods guns anymore?

Cool. Currently using Underwood +P+ 147 flat nose ammo. I'll have to give the Hornady a try. Thanks for the heads up.

Has anybody seen these on shelves anywhere yet? I've been looking every time I go into a shop, but no joy so far. And yes, I'm disappointed about no .45 offerings...maybe down the road.

Just saw that Midway has .454 listed (still "coming soon" so nothing in stock), so there will be .45 bullets if they ever get around to selling these as components. Looks like 300gr, which should work for .45 Colt.

I’d think a net search would show stock easier than visiting a store. There are the handful of boutique ammo producers. I do think it makes sense to get the most out of a gun, oftentimes that could be one’s normal CC gun.

Lehigh Defense has good choices, loaded ammo or reloading components.

Interesting, Hornady makes good stuff. Looks like an XTP bullet without the hollow point and jacket scoring that helps it open up.

Should feed well if you gun likes XTPs and 138gr 9mm bullet at 1,150fps should be a good one in that caliber.
