Does anyone have first hand feedback/experience on this ammo? Link: https://fiocchiusa.com/centerf...e-dynamics/223a.html
Ammo is difficult to source at my location.
It's for a 186 series Ruger Mini 14 chambered in .223/5.56 (old school pencil barrel)
Barrel twist rate is allegedly 1 in 9" from what I could find online for this particular Model/Serial Number Mini 14.

I have a bunch of it albeit in the old packaging of a few years ago.
Seems to shoot just fine but I have not chrono'd it to see if it actually hits 3240FPS.
I tend to load mostly my own now and also shoot heavier bullets.
But this is good ammo if that is what you are asking, should be perfect for a 1/9 barrel.

I've shot Fiocchi 55 ball ammo. Like all FMJ, it isn't very accurate. Figure 2-3 MOA from a good AR, likely noticeably worse from a Mini-14.

MV of 3240 is likely from a 24" barrel. My records show about 2,900 fps from a 16".

Ammoseek.com lists thousands of options for 55 grain 223 Remington ammo and hundreds of options for 55 grain 5.56x45 NATO ammo.

smschulz, fritz,

Thank You!

Here in the communist/socialist utopia realm of new york state, you cannot purchase ammo online.
Recently, my overlords implemented a ny state police administered background check for all ammunition purchases within the state borders.
The ny state police are also the point of contact now for all firearms purchases, instead of the FBI/instant check system. (NICS)
I'm hearing horror stories about that as well.
So far, everything I hear about the ny state police background check system working correctly is that it is an epic failure.
Of course, I am assuming the broken background check system is by design.

Yes, everything. A box of 50 rounds of .22LR, a box of 12 gauge trap shells, or hunting ammo. All require a paid background check.
That ammo purchaser database is one I will not be listed on.
They collect all of your personal information, along with ammo brand, type, lot number, and quantity purchased.

Needless to say, bringing ALL my commonly shot calibers up to speed in both handgun and rifle for doing my own reloading has become mandatory.
So far, primers, powder, brass & projectiles are unregulated (by the state) so I have heeded Para's thread about being well stocked for ammunition.
In my case, it is well stocked on reloading components.

Before the new ammo background check was implemented, I was able to source a 1000 round case of the above mentioned Fiocchi .223 and will shoot it as needed and I will reload the fired brass.

My thoughts exactly. Buy what you want/need and put it up. Do you have relatives or a good friend in a free state? Order what you want to ship to them. Have a nice visit.

Cee - What if someone wanted to Karma you a few boxes of ammo? How would that need to be managed?

sigarmsp226,
Unfortunately, sending an ammo "Karma" to my location would be in violation of state law.
To remain in compliance with the asinine ny state ammo laws, anyone wishing to do so would need to ship an ammo Karma to a ny FFL, and then a paid ammunition background check would take place.
Then I would be in the ammunition database. I've made a personal vow to myself to remain off of that database.
So while what you proposed is a wonderful and kind gesture, please don't.
