Dad is looking to do a memorial service, and is looking for a source for .223/5.56 blank ammo.

Also, and maybe off topic, would he need to use a BFA (blank firing attachment)?

I know nothing about such things.

As to a BFA, you won't need it but you'll have to cycle the action of a semi-auto rifle manually, which in my experience is what is done. I've never seen a BFA used in a gun salute.
