What is the difference from Federal Independence XM855 Ammunition and Federal Lake City XM855 Ammunition? Beware the man who only has one gun. He probably knows how to use it! - John Steinbeck

The last I knew, IMI produced at least some of the Independence line for Federal. That intel is about a year old, can't confirm for sure that this is still true. If you are asking regarding performance between the two, I can't say. I pretty much load my own with once-fired brass.

for all practical purposes - no difference. Barring knowing one performs better in a particular gun - I would buy whichever is cheaper. to call it 'xm855' it should be loaded / manufactured to roughly the same specs. Emphasis on 'should'. Since it isn't going to the DOD they can monkey with the specs a bit if they choose to. But it is generally safe to say it would be akin to military M855 in specs. do you have a more specific question ? ------------------------------ Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
