I can't resist Italian beauties. No, not Sophia Loren. Benelli Lupo. In 300 Winchester Magnum. Yes, I know. Big blast, big noise. But, for me, perfect. With a 5/8-24 factory threaded barrel, and a 24-inch barrel, what lightweight suppressor would you twist on this beauty and why? Intended uses are (a) deer stand (b) deer hunting from ground, hiking in from a dirt road (c) practice at a 100-yard range. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

There's a can Stealth Additive Works makes they call the Orev that has interchangeable endcaps. One of them is a brake, and it noticeably tames recoil. A sporting rifle like that in .300 Win Mag, it would do well. I've shot it a fair bit in both the braked and flat endcap setup, it's pretty pleasant. They may or may not have something else coming out soon that's 7.5" long and 7.7oz with the brake and no mount that was both the quietest and did the most to reduce recoil of everything we shot at a recent comparison range day with a couple PRS guys. It should be available very soon. ... the lines on it would look pretty sleek on that Lupo as well. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” "A man who does not read has no appreciable advantage over a man who cannot read."

This discussion is in a nutshell the difference between P220Smudge and me. I love that he finds new and innovative companies and there are some great products that I wouldn't have found except for him. And I would guess some of those companies may survive, but its definately not on the basis of history. And once you get out of the core niche they are producing product for the risks go up. This is a very specific market of big bore precision guns and ThunderBeast has owned it like forever. They dominate PRS and and every other venue of precision long range shooting. Nothing against SAW but this is clearly not their focus in anyway that I can see. and it has been what has been the core of TBA for decades. Get the TBA model that meets your needs and be happy. just my thinking on the matter based on someone who has some reasonable experience in this matter... “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Oh? Well, all I can tell you is that they're active in PRS and NRL and this can might really surprise you. Besides, OP mentioned deer hunting and 100 yard shooting. Lightweight, not super long since it's already a 24" barrel and the whole tree stand thing. I dunno, the can I'm thinking of is pretty nicely suited to something like that. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” "A man who does not read has no appreciable advantage over a man who cannot read."

Is there a used can market yet? Not sure how the elimination of NFA strictures might allow this. I would need to remove and reattach the can every time the rifle is stored and retrieved. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

If you would like to use it on other firearms, you could get the Silencerco 46M with the correct adapter. I just bought one and will use it on a few different firearms. I am not sure how weight compares to a dedicated 30 cal can. I just like having options with my two cans.

Silencer Shop just announced this week that you could login, go to "your vault" upload your suppressor details and get a trade in offer. They have made it really easy as they already have the serial number of every can they have sold you, just click a button and get an offer. This would be a trade in offer for store credit only. Once SS has a built up a little inventory they will get busy marketing used cans online. And yes there is a rapidly growing market for used sales. In a lot of states it can be fairly easy to do the eform and transfer person to person. For an out of state transfer, I think there are extra steps as you need to go thru an FFL. So I logged into Silencer Shop to test their brand new trade in system. They will give you an instant "preliminary offer", offering store credit for cans you bought thru them. I got a "no offer at this time" on a SilencerCo Switchback 22. I'm guessing transaction and shipping costs for used 22 cans doesn't leave enough margin to bother with. I submitted 4 of my suppressors for an estimate and they priced out at 65% to 70% off the original retail price, about what I expected actually. Looks like they copied Carmax's homework, drive by and get an offer on your used car, although this is even faster. I don't have any plans to sell my suppressors, but it's good to know there is an easy button. This won't work for everybody, but it establishes a price floor and an important part of a functioning secondary market. This message has been edited.
