New to suppressors. I have a question: Is the zero shift that occurs when the can is attached/detached fairly repeatable? I’m using a DeadAir Xeno adapter and Xeno muzzle devices. I’d like to be able to move the can around from platform to platform. I have experienced a small shift with point-of-impact when attaching the can. I’m wondering if varying torque values when attaching the can could cause zero shift as well. Thanks. -------------------------------------- "There are things we know. There are things we dont know. I can’t answer all of your questions, but when I’ve had point of impact shifts between having a hand-tight direct thread suppressor on a bolt action rifle or not, they have been consistent. My ballistics solvers have different profiles for whether a can is on the gun. The best way to know for certain, of course, is to experiment and determine for yourself. I get POI shifts with some guns and ammunition, and not with others. ► 6.0/94.0 “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz

It’s the can, not the mounts. Nature of the beast with some designs. At least with the Xeno, you’re getting a repeatable shift because they’re taper mount. Older tech, you didn’t even get that. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

I do not own and have not shot the items you discuss. However, I own a number of cans for rifles, and a few for pistols. I don't really experience a noticeable POI shift with suppressed pistols. Some of my AR-15s show a directly downward shift of 1/4 to 1/2 MOA with a can. These tend to be light-ish profile barrels, with a Surefire SOCOM can. My heavy profile precision bolt action rifles generally do not show any POI changes with a can, but honestly I almost never shoot them unsuppressed. One of my 6.5 Creedmoor barrels had a downward shift of 1/4 to 1/2 MOA, but it has long since been retired. Most of these rifles use Thunderbeast cans, with either direct thread or CB brake attachment. I dismount my rifle suppressors after every range session, and switch many of them between rifles. I haven't experienced POI shifts from one session to the next.

I appreciate the replies. I’m trying to squeak the most accuracy I can out of everything and want to assure I’m not stacking issues by either varying torque values or the variables involved in the taper mount itself. Correct. However, I recently found that at least with the Keymo mounts, the shift between my Lazarus and Sandman X is very similar. On the same 11.5 BCM Oh course, on a 50 yard zero, the remove/reattach shift is so minor I don’t notice it. It’s not a sniper rifle. ________________ People hate you. Train like it.
