Reckon I'm gonna have to take advantage of this.

A lot of dealers are doing this.

I got the invoice yesterday for a suppressor I’ve been talking to the manufacturer about for a few months now, and I’m trying to decide if the $200 to get it over with now makes sense. The demand on the ATF processing branch come January 1st is going to be potentially at unheard-of levels. I don’t want to wait five months to find out my wait is another five or ten months. Wait times right now are as short as twenty minutes in some cases, trending around a few days to a week. I can handle a longer wait for a stack of Form 1’s, but a can? I’m leaning strongly towards the “get it over with” option.

I'm not patient enough for that, but I like the service they're offering. I have a can at my dealer right now and will probably be adding a Surefire Rc2 mini before the market goes apeshit, the manufacturers are dry, and the ATF is inundated.

This seems like a very bad idea. IMO.

Paid for my can last night, it was at my dealer this afternoon, they submitted my Form 4 an hour later. I’m not going to wait for the Fuddgates to open January 1st, fuck that.

… because that’s when I’m going to file all the Form 1’s for the spare lowers I haven’t built up yet. Razz

My LGS is taking payment for silencers, but holding them for folks who want to wait until the new year to file. They say that few folks are choosing to do it though, with most opting to continue purchasing as though nothing's changed.

I guess I understand wanting to lock-in your silencer(s) to get ahead of the inevitable inventory depletion. But it seems likely the processing will be a mess, come the new year, with the surge of submissions. We may see wait times go back up.

IMO, the wait was always the biggest gripe. If the ATF had said that an elimination of the tax would result in a return to year-long wait times, or they could maintain the tax but guarantee same-day approvals moving forward, folks would opt for the tax. The wait has always been the crummier aspect.
