I’m curious to know how Silencer Shop purchases went. Usually when ATF does any change to eforms, the Full Auto software they use for filling out the forms goes belly up and it takes a couple of weeks to fix.

Mine eventually went through, just before midnight CST. After the first succeeded, the second still failed, but eventually worked about 15 minutes later. The control number on the second one was about 350 higher, so that means they were still processing in excess of a thousand an hour.

I’m going to start following the approval threads on the NFA subreddit again. I’m really curious what they’ll be like. Might start charting control numbers, too. That would be some interesting data. Cautiously hopeful that I get mine back sometime this month. Would be nice to not worry about which uppers I can put on whichever lower, and actually cut down a shotgun. Big Grin

There have been some reports of approvals already coming back. That said, I’m sure it will be like before, some will get approved quickly, some won’t, and there won’t be any obvious rhyme or reason, no matter what charts or stats are looked at. Ultimately, the only thing that really matters to everyone is much time their own stuff is taking.

I've got a Form 1 and Form 4 in Silencershop pending submission. I tried to get the 1 in several times today but the software keeps hanging. I'm not particularly upset about it. I expected a wait. Hopefully it settles down in a week or two once they clear out the backlog from the last couple of weeks, but I'm not really expecting that either.

I'm not even going to try to certify the Form 4 at my dealer until the 1 goes in. Just save myself the frustration of watching them fight with the computer even harder than usual.

And right after I typed that the Form 1 went through. Hopefully they still process fairly quickly.

So I filled in the eForm 1 yesterday, except for the .eft file. Today I was going to go get the .eft and submit the form. I found out there's NOBODY in the area that can do a .eft. All the agencies in the valley only do prints on paper. So OK, I'll do it the old fashioned way. I tried 8 or 10 times over the afternoon and evening to submit the form, and finally at 7:30PM it went through. So tomorrow I'll get the cards off to ATF and the form to the CLEO. And then wait and see.

Two days ago I was in a local FFL to pick up a new shotgun. A guy who was in there said the volume of NFA application submissions went from an average of 2500 per day before 1/1/26, to 150,000 per day after 1/1. I don't know where he got those numbers, but if they're accurate all I can say is "Holy Crap".

Those numbers are coming from people posting their control numbers. There’s nearly a six hundred number difference between my first and last control numbers that I filed in a half hour at 1-1:30AM MST on New Year’s Day. Browsing through the NFA subreddit approval megathread, I’m seeing a three hundred thousand number difference between control numbers and guys who filed on 1/3. I saw a spreadsheet someone did on the evening of 1/1 that was showing an average of a thousand a minute over a two hour midday span. I suspect we’ll see that number go up sharply before long. Every day at work, I’m having people ask me “are silencers unregulated now?” As the information trickles down to the completely uninitiated, they’ll start adding to the tsunami of submissions.

I'll just wait for the bum rush on efiles to slow down a bit. Maybe a few months. Then I think I want a can form my MPX. Not sure if I'll buy or if I'll Form 1 & Build it.

I called one of them over in Boise (45 miles). The guy I talked to sounded like he just got off the boat from Calcutta, I could barely understand him. He said I had to make an appointment. I'm still not sure whether he even understood what a .eft is. I decided screw it, I'll do it the old school way. Drove to the local PD (5 miles) and it took 20 minutes. So I've got the cards, just need to get them in the mail this morning.

Usually it’s better to go to the Printscan website to find nearby locations and make the appointment through the website than just cold calling local UPS stores. Not all of them do it.

Huh. Never heard of them before. I just got back from the post office but I'll bookmark Printscan for next time, thanks!

Printscan is the actual company that has the fingerprint kiosks at certain UPS stores, as well as other places.

Now that TBAC has their low back pressure 556 can, I’m very interested to see some comparison videos. This might be my next suppressor.

I ordered a Tiger 22 from Capitol Armory just before Christmas. They said they would work thru the form submissions in order, and I just got my Docusign email today, so it looks like they are more or less through their backlog.

I don't really have any plans at present, but there's something I'm noticing.

With the removal of the NFA tax, we're seeing a huge volume of applications, as others have posted.

With the huge appetite for suppressors, tons of other manufacturers are popping up.

This is great for us, the customers! In order to stay competitive, prices are coming down. This will happen even more until demand drops, and then smaller companies will drop out of the market.

If/When legislation gets passed removing suppressors from the NFA, and particularly if they are adjudicated as "not a firearm" (which they are obviously not), the secondary/used market will pop up, driving downward pressure on prices again.

To add to this, I'm now seeing suppressors from just about everybody.

Lyman, yes, the reloading company, now offers suppressors.
