Unless you've been living under a rock for the last six months, you know what's changing tomorrow. If you've been under a rock, I'd like to skip the whole explanation portion of the discussion for this thread.

So with no tax on fun, what do you have planned?

I've been trying to expand my thinking on the matter. With most of the bases covered so far in terms of SBR's and suppressors, I'm thinking it's time to branch out into the more specialized or "just for giggles" sphere of things.

First up, a Remington Model 11 SBS. I picked up a 1924 example with a "suicide safety" that's in just rough enough condition that I don't feel bad about it, but in good enough shape that it should clean up nicely. It was missing some of the parts for the barrel braking system, but I sourced some and it's all back together and cycles fine now. Gonna cut it down to a "whippit" configuration and leave the stock intact. Should be a fun one! I have a spare 870 I'm debating doing as well, we'll see.

I need to see what the Form 1 suppressor scene is looking like these days, but my hope is that I can have a machinist friend walk me through milling out some mounts that I can engrave and serial, and then mate carbon fiber tubes and 3D print my own baffle cores on for .22 and pistol cans. I have some ideas and print files I think should work pretty well. This includes some plans for some integrally suppressed things like a 10/22 barrel and AR9 upper.

I think other than those for fun and something like an SBR'ed Ruger Charger or the Daniel Defense PCC that I keep going back and forth on, I pretty much did everything NFA that I wanted to do before the end of 2025.

One SBR. I've been waiting on it to take advantage of the $0 tax. I'm not in a huge hurry to have it done, so if form 1 processing is slowed down by a huge inrush of applications after 1/1 I don't really care.

Also thinking about estate planning. My suppressors are all registered as Individual. I want to set up an NFA trust and transfer them all into that, but not at $200 a pop. The SBR would go on the trust as well.

Oh, I keep forgetting about that. I do want to transfer my cans that were filed as individual to my trust. Thankfully, that can be done on eforms starting tomorrow, at least supposedly.

Put my cans and SBRs into a trust and do more SBRs and cans.

I got a couple cans on the way, a B&T Tiger 22 and a Ekron .30. I also have a HK G36C clone built on an S5 Tactical receiver that I’m planning on SBRing.

I don’t really need anything, all of these are gratuitous purchases I’ve justified by the free stamps.

The SBR sounds cool. I can’t wait to see the pics. Something about an SBS that needs a few miles on it to provide it with some character.

I’ve got a DD PCC to SBR and a Nexus Gen 2 Scorpion receiver on order. Also have a Flow 9K Ti that I ordered just before Christmas. Also I have some earlier SBRs that were done on single shot trusts that I’ll probably swap to individual.

After that, see if anything comes out that interests me.

I'm planning on setting up a trust and putting my two SBR's and the suppressor I have coming, and then a .30 cal suppressor for hunting and a 9mm for pistol and range use.

Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

I'm pretty much going to form1 everything that makes any sense which is a pretty big set for me. But my enthusiasm is probably going to be dampened by the serious long wait times coming.

Guys, if you're up, eforms is working. I should've filled out my 5320.23's ahead of time, I just assumed .gov being what it is that everything would be broken, but I submitted two shotguns and five AR lowers. Debated doing my 10/22, but decided to call it a night.

Did my Form 1 this morning. No problems. Did they delete the photo from the copy of the submission that you get back? On my previous submissions, the photo was to the side of the RP questions. In the new version, it just shows the questions as full screen width.

Since I have a Noveske with a KX3, I want to get the Amigo suppressor. I will also probably try and get a couple 30 cal cans.

And not NFA, but I want to install a FRT in one of my AR’s. EVT said they should get more in tomorrow.

No luck here. I tried to submit a couple of Form 1s this afternoon. eForms was working and I made it all the way through the process. But, when I get to the very end and put in my PIN, it give me a generic error that says "There was an error. Please try again." I know my PIN is correct, and I tried multiple browsers. I submitted a question with their experts. Sigh.

I got a response from the ATF:
quote:
This is a known system issue that we are working on correcting. Please be patient with the delay. Wait about 30 seconds then try again. We are seeing a significant increase in volume submission today.

I've tried a dozen times earlier today, I tried again just now, and still no dice. Might as well just add to the load by just hitting refresh as fast as I can.

I was about to say it's good to have goals for next year but jeez, it's already 2026! I collected 5 stamps in 2025, they are in a trust and at this point I have one of everything I need.

I do want a reflex can, an Otter Creek OCM6 or possibly a CAT Viking Bros 6. Next AR build will be a carry handle AR. There will be some Black Hawk Down/Gordon influence but it will not be a clone, there will be some modern twists in optic, light and a few other parts.

The next big rabbit hole may have to wait till 2027, but it will be 9mm PCC, H&K SP5 SBR and a 9mm can on a tri-lug mount. After that a second rimfire can, Dead Air RxD22Ti, Otter Creek Titanium, SAW Katan, and B&T Tiger are on my shortlist.

Good luck to everyone adding to their stamp collection in 2026!

eforms still dead. doesn't actually suprise me or really irritate me. no cost effective system design can absorb unlimited volume.
Let's see tomorrow.

I'm glad I stayed up last night and did the ones I wanted to do. I just logged in, and it seems to be running quick and smooth now. Definitely faster than when I last messed with it about a year ago. I think the message here is if you want to file some stuff, wait for non-peak hours. There are nearly 500 control numbers between the first and last Form 1's I filed last night, and that was in about a half hour span at almost 2AM Phoenix time on New Year's Day. I can't even imagine the volume they were dealing with today.

I was surprised that we didn't sell a single can at work today. My store has a few locations and they had me at the older one that has some cans, and it was mainly just people asking questions about how to go about the process. I expect it'll be like the demand on suppressors was in 2024 - the most informed of us got after it early and the people who know nothing of it will follow the herd mentality and a buying frenzy will develop over the coming weeks.

I looked at a 990 Shockwave at work today. Definitely intriguing. Brass Facts on YouTube did a review of one he SBS'ed and found that shooting it with a stock actually made it not run too reliably. Something about the action makes it not want to cycle when it's braced up against the body instead of held out. Dunno.

I think in the coming weeks, I'm going to try to source a Ruger Charger to SBS. With my can and a dot, it'll be a fun little plinker. Outside of that, I'm not going to worry to much about anything else for a bit. Good luck to you guys trying to file stuff, keep us informed here if you're up for it. Smile
