I’m becoming less and less confident with my KeyMo setups. If you were starting from scratch knowing what you know now.. whose mounting system would you use?

I’m still happy with the Griffin taper mount system that I started with, mainly for the very large selection of muzzle devices they have. For newer systems, Xeno would probably be at the top of my list.

I have a Xeno setup as they look more like retro flash hiders.

I’m a fan of xeno because of the left handed
but plan B is certainly as good and offers way
more choices

Stared with Griffin’s Plan A, switched to Plan B for more choices, far better availability and paying as little as half for muzzle devices and mounts. Not having to fight to get my can off even after using anti-seize on both the threads and the taper became a bonus.

I think Plan B is the easy, no-brained choice these days.

If going with Plan B, I recommend taking a look at KAK Industry, Comstock Armory, and Breek Arms if you want to outfit a bunch of stuff for not a lot of money. The go-to recommended brand is Rearden, but their stuff is never in stock and frankly, overpriced.

Plan B has the most options out in the market but I like the idea of the left hand thread options Xeno and CAT TSF.

Starting from scratch in 2026 I'd pick CAT TSF/Spooky. I like that CAT open published the TSF specs and there's a set standard. CAT, CGS, Noveske, and now AAC are using the thread pattern. Rearden is now making mounts and muzzle devices and calling it Calico /CATlas .

If you had Keymo, you probably have a couple of Dead Air cans and Xeno might be the move. You get the warranty protection of everything being in the same system ecosystem and the only real difference is Xeno is 20 threads per in inch left hand thread and CAT is 16tpi LH. I sold off all my Keymo stuff and went back to SiCo ASR. ASR has worked fine for me but you can save 3oz off the end of the gun by going to one of the taper only systems. I'm a tinkerer so I have ordered some Rearden Calico 1x16LH to try out.

just my opinion, but I don't see this CAT alternative getting enough traction to ever remotely rival PlanB. And the benefit of the maturity of PlanB and Xeno is that there are adapters to fit legacy stuff not just HUB.

i started with the rugged dual taper. Never had any issues, but for a while i wondered if i was "Stuck" with it. Their R.U.M mount adapter was a great save for me, lol. I really like their mounting option, just glad i can add it to most other brand suppressors now...

Another vote for Xeno. I have it on 2 rifles and like it so far.

I’m a big fan of Surefire’s mounting system and of that I probably like the three prong best.

As to the Dead Air, the Xeno is all I would use. We have several of the Keymo mounts come loose during training at work. When our new uppers arrive in a couple of weeks, they’ll either get Surefire 3 prongs for the RC2s or Xeno for the Lazarus.

anyone considering the surefire system for mounting a suppressor should understand the you simply cannot use the Warcomp muzzle devices. They are absolutely terrible in sound reduction when used with a suppressor compared to the traditional FH surefire offers. FWIW
