What is the soup du jour? |
Very nice. I was thinking of picking up a Polo 30 for a dedicated 300Blk for the extra backpressure if the Sandman-S doesn’t work out. Seems like an extremely versatile can. Looks great on the rifle.

Otter Creek makes a really good can, and they make an excellent can for the money. My 5.56 Polonium next to my friend's Surefire RC2 on very similar 11.5" guns doesn't sound any louder at the shooter's ear, or off to the side. The only noticeable difference is the Polonium is a very slightly higher pitch. Flash suppression under NODs was essentially the same. I don't need a .30 cal can, but if/when I do, I'll just pick up a Polo 30. ______________________________________________ Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

Same host and same ammo? I ask because I have done some host/ammo silencer flash comparisons with and without NVGs, and the RC2 has always done the best, with the Otter Creek OCM5 a close second. I suppose it makes sense that another Otter Creek silencer would be a good performer too, but the OCM5 is relatively unique.

Same ammo, different hosts, but both 11.5" AR's. His is a Super Duty and mine is an URGI, so it's a pretty similar comparison. I think the only major differences could be the muzzle devices. I have a Griffin linear comp, and I don't know what he has offhand, but probably one of the Surefire 3 or 4 prong units. I posted a video last year of my Polonium vs my Explorr on the same rifle under NODs on Reddit for giggles because the difference in flash suppression was so dramatic. Andrew responded and said that while it doesn't get talked about a whole lot, flash suppression was one of his huge priorities when he designed the Polonium, and my video was a good showcase of it. ______________________________________________ Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

Can you refer me to that video? Most of my silencers are older. I think flash suppression is more of a priority for manufacturers nowadays than in the past, due to the proliferation of NVGs and the advent of youtube videos about EVERYTHING.
