I put this in my other thread, but thought I would do another post to increase exposure.

Possible to use 3-lug mounting with a booster or are boosters only compatible with specific threaded pistons? Any such thing as a 3-lug piston?

as both Dwill104 and I said in the other thread neither of us have heard of such a thing. But in the universe its always possible, but I don't for the life of me see how one could design such a thing, you need a spring for the 3 lug to be tensioned and then inside that you need the neilsen to have a spring and be free to move.
And to cut to the chase you don't want to hang a 3 lug muzzle device on a 226 anyway. There are a couple of ways to get a qd that has a booster but really none of them make any sense on a pistol.

The short answer is no. Get a tri lug mount, get a booster mount, get a wrench for those mounts, and swap them out as needed.

There are things like the Griffin EZ Lok ecosystem and fixed spacers, but that’s getting into a can of worms, and given that you’re dealing with Sigs and that reverse thread 13x1 stuff, I just don’t know.

Terminology needs to be identified.
Rifles will have a fixed, threaded barrel. Mounts for rifles are direct thread or QD. Tri lug is a variant of QD.
Pistols that use a Browning type action require a piston and spring. These are pistons in right or left hand thread.
22 rimfire have fixed barrels for pistols--the slides move. Therefore direct thread .
Can you convert rifle threads? Yes , a thread adaptor is required.
The standard mounting thread at the base of a rifle suppressor is
1) HUB or 1.375 Bravo. AKA Omega, ASR, YHM,
2) Alpha 1.125-28 = SilencerCo
3) 1.18-24 = Liberty
4) 1 7/16-20 = D cell
You have to understand thread pitch. Thread pitch determines what mates to your barrel.

This post confuses me and I'm definately not a newbie.
There are definately rifle barrels without threads like many which might just have a 3lug. But the OP is clearly asking about pistols since he asked about a booster which would almost never be about any rifle that I can think of.
Browning pistols need not only a piston and a spring they need the housing that matches the thread pattern of the suppressor to house them all with a compatable configuration of spring and piston and sometimes they don't mix and match mfg.
All FWIW to the OP who I think has his answer in the other post.

If the purpose is to not have to swap adapters or a spring for a fixed barrel spacer, there are some small very lightweight 9mm direct thread cans like the SAW Shiv that claim to not need a booster. You could, in theory, run a can like that using direct thread on both your Sig P226 and MPX, assuming the barrel thread pitch is compatible with the suppressor thread pitch. I believe the Shiv only comes in 1/2x28, but there might be other cans that come in M13.5x1 LH.

Of course, a can lightweight enough not to require a booster is going to give up some sound performance.

Sorry for any confusion…

I understand the various thread/pitch issue. Realize no booster needed for MPX and do need booster for P226. No issue taking booster on and off the can.

I just liked the idea of a quick attach/detach option of the 3-lug vs. screwing it on and off.

Pretty much figured it wasn’t an option with a booster, just thought I would ask.
