Raising funds for something new... something's got to go.

First up: SIG P229, 9mm, with rail.
This is a California model (229R-9-BSS-CA); build date is 23-NOV-2023. I've put 40-50 rounds through it. It's got its original box, SIG sticker, and paperwork. Asking $550, shipped from my FFL to yours.

I did sell the two 10-round magazines it came with, so I'll offer it this way:
1) If you want 10-rounders, I'll order two new Mec-Gar from our friend Greg Cote and have them shipped to you.
OR:
2) If you want 15-rounders and can receive them where you live, I'll order two new Mec-Gar from Greg Cote and have them shipped to you.
OR:
3) If you don't need mags, I'll cut the price by $50.

If you'd like to have a set of black Hogue OverMolded finger-groove grips for it, I'll include those with the pistol for $20 more.

Recognizing that the pics here are only so good, I can email you the [higher-resolution] originals, if you'd like.

I'd be interested in a trade for a non-CA version, as well.

God bless America.

I was just fixin' to dish out way more at Sportsmans Warehouse for a P229 California Compliant as my first handgun. Browsed the Sig Forum to study some user experience with the P229 & stumbled upon your very fair offer. I'll call a local (Petaluma, CA) FFL & set up the procurement process. I'll post on this thread again when everything is "GO" on my end. You may have saved me a few bucks.

Well, my FFL sez I have to include my birth certificate as part of the ID requirements for the background check. I guess I'm just not yet qualified to purchase a firearm. I'll check back when I get my act together. thank you for your time.

I'm a little confused here. How is it that you're "not yet qualified" to buy a gun? And how is it that you didn't know you're not qualified to buy one? It's not like you're underage, right? Because your Profile says you're retired.

The FFL told me that before I can own a firearm, I have to pass a "gun safety test," provide him a "real ID" or produce my birth certificate, provide proof of residence and pass a background check to be eligible for gun ownership in California. The snag that I ran into is the embarrassing fact that I can't find my birth certificate. So I figured that I'd better jump through all of those hoops before I attempt a purchase. There's no problem with me taking care of all those requirements - I just don't how long it will take me to complete everything.

P.S. I'm very impressed with the amount of expertise & subject knowledge on this forum. It's a one-stop shop to learn the realities of the handgun world. I found that in surfing the web to learn about guns, I often run into what appears to be marketing bias. The SigForum members appear to be presenting the real deal of personal experience. There is an overload of genuine info on this site. Thanks to all the members who devote their time in providing such valuable content to us newbies.

Well I’ll be a back up for buying the P229, pretty sure I’m ready and qualified Big Grin

Is it bad taste to own a P226 in .40S&W and a P229 in 9mm??

I defer to you, SigSauerP226. I don't know how long it will take me to jump through all of the California hoops to meet all of the FFL's requirements & don't want to stand in the way.
