I picked up this XL/EDC Siegle today. Beefy blade 1/4" stock with tapered tang made of 5160 steel. About 9" overall length and feels great in the hand. Very pleased with it.

Haven't seen any information to that effect but he has stated in the past that Winkler was an inspiration for some of his designs.

After a quick search I did find this info from his website:

My name is Bill Siegle and I have been making knives since I was 8 years old. I grew up in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. Working on a small family run sawmill gave me an appreciation for cutting tools of all kinds. I served in the US Army for 4 years in the Infantry and have worked mainly as a machinist/Laser Operator for most of my civilian life. As far as my knife making career, I am mostly self taught but did spend as much time as I could with ABS Master Smith James Schmidt when I was a teenager before entering the military. He taught me a lot about knives and the business of knives. He will be missed. One of the main points Jim taught me was that no matter what you add to a knife cosmetically, it must be able to work as a tool and that is what I strive to make. I continue to learn more about knife making as I interact with my customers and other knife makers. My wife and I moved out to Oregon seeking work in the knife industry in 1995 and haven’t looked back since. We have 1 son who, so far, shares my love of the outdoors and cutlery. I love the North West and all the adventure and beautiful nature it contains. When not making knives or working the day job, I enjoy target shooting, hiking, camping, and kayaking.

Bill is an outstanding knifemaker, he sells mostly on Blade Forums, is very popular. I've known him for years but didn't know his NY background. James Schmidt is a legend, I loved attending NY shows and stopping to see what he brought, never had a knife for sale and I couldn't afford it anyway. You'll get great service from your Siegle.

Thanks for chiming in UTsig. I knew very little about him but I knew I liked his knives. Based on that__ I think I would like Winkler knives as well.
