Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Buy an Ontario in the length you want and a file. Harder just means harder to sharpen. You will strike rocks and other stuff in normal machete use. The length depends on what you're cutting. I use a 22" for up to around 4" and delimbing downed trees. This orange handled version is what I use most. You can see it in the ground easily. Cut off the knuckle guard part, rough on the fingers. https://www.knifecenter.com/it...orange-knuckle-guard ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Wouldn't the 18" be a bit handier? "Practice like you want to play in the game"

If you're hiking & backpacking, yes. I use mine at home on my property for general tree & brush clearing and maintenance and the heft and length of the blade helps a lot. I do like Esee stuff but there is a massive difference in price between that and the Ontario. They use similar steels in the blade too. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.
