GustoferI generally won't be "sharpening" my knives in the field. I try to be extremely careful with my edges, but sometimes things happen. For those instances I have a
Lansky pull through sharpener that'll be enough to get me home to do it right.
Otherwise, I take a paint stirrer, cut it short, glue strops to both sides, and load them with stropping compound. They're small, light, and will fit in a shirt pocket or pants pocket. It's a quick easy way to keep an edge.

mdblantonI have a couple of favorites for emergency field sharpeners. If the edge is really dull after hard use then I prefer the DMT folding diamond sharpener with coarse/fine sides. For light maintenance I have one of the Spyderco pocket stones. It's a ceramic stone (you can get fine or medium grit or dual sided depending on how much you want to spend). It comes in a leather pocket pouch which can be used as a strop.

Nickelsig229 Link to Fallkniven DC4 I have used this for over 12 years now. I don't use it often because I sharpen my tools with a TSPro on my bench before heading outdoors. I use it mostly when I mess up an edge on stones or when doing something I shouldn't have done with a knife. Often my friends need some help with their tools while camping. It sees more use in helping them.
It's small but big enough to do real work. I have no regrets with it.

This works the best, I found the second knife wasn’t much heavier than the sharpener.
Man wants light, fast and sharp? Look no further than Havalon. I’m only slightly ashamed to admit I am using the hell out of mine. 2 blades quarters an elk start to finish.

Xer0I've got a DMT Diamond stone that's same size and thickness as a credit card. I can just slip it into my wallet with my other cards and have an really fast and easy touch up sharpener with me at all times.

Unless I am mistaken, the Benchmade version has a ceramic rod and strop strip. The new Worksharp has a ceramic and diamond plate.
https://www.worksharptools.com...ding-field-sharpenerFallkniven has a diamond/ceramic version of the DMT diafold.
https://fallkniven.se/en/knife...-YpRPt&cn-reloaded=1I’m going to pick both of them up. I think a ceramic for touch up is better than the DMT.
