I want you to talk me out of buying a Benchmade Griptilian. The reason I want this knife is because it is very comfortable in the hand. My Osborne’s were not comfortable to hold. The axis lock also allows one handed closing when needed.
The reason I want you to talk me out of it is Because I really don’t want to support Benchmade if I can avoid it.
I need a folder as comfortable to use as a Griptilian. Anything in size between the Griptilian and the mini Griptilian I will consider and see if I can put one in my hand. No serrations, and one handed deploy/close is a big bonus.
What do you suggest?

For me, my personal favorite is a Spyderco PM3. I LOVE mine and if the style doesn't jump at you, you can always do the Native.

Benchmade is kind of lame, Hogue is one of my favorite brands. Their Doug Ritter line might be what you want.

Basically a Griptilion, the same knife as when Benchmade made them. The mini RSK is my every day carry.

Just another day in paradise.

A question about the RSK, is the grip rough to the point that it eats pants pockets? The mini RSK specifically.
Loswsmith, the native looks great although a bit larger (blade width) than I’m used to. I’m pretty sure I know a place where I can handle one though.

Buy one used. That way, someone else has put money into Benchmade's hands and you don't have to. Wink

I have played with a couple of Benchmades recently and frankly was unimpressed. For a $200 folder I'd expect zero play whatsoever when locked up, and that was not the case. I came away thinking that I'd not willingly trade my Cold Steel Airlite for one, even though it sells for 1/4 the price.

I moved from griptillian to spyderco manix (small and large size). Similar locking. Sharp and pretty comfortable. A bit more robust.

I suggest you watch a few knife videos on YouTube and see if anything looks appealing. There are lots of new brands that offer really nice knives you can pick up on Amazon and elsewhere for 1/2 to 1/3rd what a Benchmade costs. I like “Petrifed Fish” and “Kizer” and there’s lots of others. On the higher end Kershaw makes several Magnacut blades like the “Bel-Air” for $50 to $100 less than Benchmade. Look at Hogue. For US made high end look into Tactile Knives. My personal most carried is Spyderco’s.

Even if you don’t have dislike for Benchmade you can buy equivalent knives for FAR less and superior knives for the same price. But hey sometimes a knife just fits perfectly, even Benchmade………………..DJ

Remember, this is all supposed to be for fun...................

I carried a mini grip for years , I have a Doug Ritter mini as well never used it. I just couldn’t spend my money with them again. My latest edc is a Spyderco para 3 in cruwear. I’m hard on knives and the cruwear has held up very nicely. It’s held a very good edge since January 2025!

When you asked to be talked out of such a purchase, I'm certain you didn't realize you would get a legitimate answer, but facts are facts.

Benchmade is not the friend of gun owners, not a supporter of the Second Amendment, and has contributed money to the enemies of this republic. When you buy their products new, you are supporting enemies of this nation and its Constitution.

Actually I knew your feelings towards Benchmade, as well as their bullshit business practices. I didn’t truly need a reason to avoid giving them money, I needed help picking out a knife as comfortable as the Griptilian. It’s the only knife I’ve ever held that screamed comfort for a daily folder. Buck 110’s are great but they are heavy and bulky. I knew I’d get plenty of suggestions here, saving me time running around all over the place. It’s too expensive having a full line of every decent knife all under one roof. This place is invaluable.

Does Benchmade put out a great product?
Oh hell yes! Great knife, easy to sharpen and holds an edge.
I actually own a few, and am pleased with them.

But I'll never spend another dime on anything from Benchmade. And I haven't since 2020. They shot themselves in the foot when they screwed over gun owners, and I hope they never recover from their self inflicted injuries.

There's a ton, and I mean a TON of other companies out there that put out GREAT knives as good as, if not better than Benchmade, and for around the same price.

You just need to look around for your style and price point that fits your needs.
