Daughter is crazy into gardening, I’d like to get her a good quality tool. The local boutique garden center is asking north of $70 for what appears nice enough. Seems expensive.

I looked and couldn't find one made in America. Amazon has a large selection, just pick one that you like. All under $30.00!

These were recommended somewhere and I bought them for my wife, she loves them.

Bought my wife this one and she likes it. It’s held up to our rocky ground so far. Sheath is garbage, but the Hori Hori itself is awesome

Admit it: you just like saying, "hori hori."

(It actually translates to "dig dig.")

I bought one of these. Surprisingly nice foe twenty bucks. Sheath is garbage but I’m going to dig in the yard so who cares? I’ve been using a very expensive albeit extra fixed blade I had lying around to keep the sprinkler head circles free of grass. This is a much smarter and economical choice for that.

Smile it came in last week. Looks like a great thing to dig cat holes. Her birthday her present.

I have 2 of these which my wife prefers over the Fiskars. Not sure why, the Fiskers, at $2 more, is an excellent tool.

"Nisaku NJP650 The Original Hori Hori Namibagata Japanese Stainless Steel Weeding Knife"

$17 on Amazon.

Side effect of ownership...they are brilliant tools for metal detecting work also. Which I'd like to get back into, but has been on the back burner for years now.

Get the original from Japan. I gave my wife one and she still has it and loves using it. I borrow it sometimes because it's the best for working in the ground, especially if you need to do any kind of "precision" work in your lawn or whatever ground related project you may be working on. It's such a nice tool it wouldn't be a bad SD blade in a pinch.

I never did it but always thought how incredibly pure fun and relaxing it would be. My guess is if you had a large parcel of private property to peruse it could be even more fun, esp. if it had any history of habitation attached to it.
