I say this from a hospital bed.

Yesterday, someone didn't see me on my motorcycle, and turned across at the worst time.

I don't remember the wreck, and have a couple of brief flashes of being packaged for transport.

I have stitches in my left hand and right eye.

My right radius is broken, and my right wrist is shattered. Some of the bone made it out, and let itself back in.

Finally, my L1 vertebra is cracked and slightly out of place, but is a finally minor issue.

The good Lord looks out for foolish people and little kids, fortunately for me.

And thanks to a Facebook page dedicated to traffic accidents in NW Arkansas, you can find pictures of the medics working on me, if you're inclined to look. If you find them, feel free to post them here. I'm no good at that.

Hopefully a speedy recovery! Sorry for all the bumps/bruises/breaks, and I hope your back is Ok in the end.

And as I biker I have to ask, how's the bike?

Hope for a speedy recovery.
My only experience with that was when I was 19. My friend left his helmet in my car. I was going to return it to him after work the next day. Unfortunately he broke up with his girlfriend that afternoon. He left her house riding a bit fast. The street jogged over about 8 feet or so after the first intersection. He hit the curb. That helmet would have helped quite a bit.

I am glad you are okay. I usually don’t ride when the temperature is over 90 degrees because I always wear a full helmet, gloves, and riding jacket and it it so freaking hot in Texas especially when sitting at a red light.

I have a friend who wore only a turtle shell type helmet and I am shocked he is alive after his accident. I won’t go into reasons of possibly why, but it seems someone purposely targeted him and hit him on his bike causing him to crash. His leg was severely severed and thank god someone stopped who had a tourniquet and saved his life. In the end he lost his leg, but he would have bled out if the bystander didn’t have a tourniquet with them. I get made fun of by some people for having a trauma kit, flares, fire extinguisher, etc in all of my vehicles but this is why. You may save a person’s life. I have been first on the scene of several fatalities where there was nothing I could do.

Again, so glad you are alive.

I wouldn't have a face left were it not for wearing mine, although some say that would be an improvement.

I continued to ride (nervously) for a few years after but ended up selling the bike. Too many animals and dipshit distracted drivers on the roads these days to really enjoy it.

ATGATT. I don’t ride in the city (rural twisties only) at all. Always be in a full armored suit. And now they have these, modern technology.

7X and the off-road versions will both be purchased this for me.

Best of lucky for a speedy recovery!

Surgery in a couple of hours to see what they can do for the jigsaw puzzle that is my right wrist.

I'm assuming my poor shadow is totalled.

Just an hour before the wreck, I'd spent $700 on maintaining my bike, including a new front tire!

Good luck with the surgery, and a fast recovery!

I'm always ATGATT with fluorescent yellow helmet and jacket. Even then I watch drivers not see me sometimes.

There is a well known rural twisties I ride often. A frequent rider there is probably only alive because of the Alpine air suit. A car pulled out in front of him and he t-boned it at 40 mph which sent him flying. Bitch who pulled out took off and a group of bikers had to chase her down and force her to stop and held her for the police. He ended up with zero injuries.

+1 plus kevlar jeans and motorcycle boots. For me, riding season in Texas is late October until early May.

I always, always wear a helmet, gloves, and protective clothing when I ride because bikes are lots of fun to ride but you can get in trouble in the blink of an eye on a bike. Back in October 2020 it was a beautiful fall day to ride and we were on our way to checkout two waterfalls when a deer stepped out in front of me and I was unable to avoid it. Ended up hitting the deer and wound up with a broken leg and dislocated ankle but no permanent injuries by God's grace because it could have been a lot worse.

I believe lots of riders would have survived their motorcycle accidents had they been wearing a helmet because when you go down your head is going to hit the pavement period and when that happens a survivable accident becomes a fatality.

Pray you heal quickly

I hope you fully recover! I opted for an air bag vest when I bought my Pan America. Armored Kevlar jeans, air bag vest and serious helmet on every ride!
