Three and a half months in 9th grade for ditching school. Parents originally wanted to ban me from seeing one friend because they thought he was a bad influence even though we went to different schools and he had nothing to do with me ditching. I told them to fuck off and either ground me or don't but singling out an innocent party for my choices was bullshit. I got grounded mid September until the end of the year. They cracked and let me do extra curriculars even go to parties after those extra curriculars.

When I got busted for ditching school the next year my dad had a come to Jesus talk with me. I was given two options. First option was to go to school, hang out with friends, chase girls, be a kid. Second option was be a grown up and pick a trade. Dad would get me into an apprentice program and let me rent to own his extra truck and tools. Work all day, class at night, pay rent, no more easy high school shenanigans. I decided english and history and talking to cute girls in mini skirts wasn't so bad.

I wasn't really ever grounded. I mean, I was put in time-out several times as a young kid for various little misbehaviors (nothing memorable). But by the time I got old enough for actual "grounding", my older brother's mental health issues had become a total shitshow, so I made sure to follow the rules and stay out of trouble because I knew my parents already had too much on their plate and were barely hanging on. Basically parenting myself so they could focus all their energy on him.

... You had rules establishing purchase limits for coffee creamer?

Why?

(Or is "Coffee Mate" just your euphemism for "quality time with the Mama-sans"?)

Entire school year after the first report card. If I wasn't in school, eating, or sleeping, I was to be at the dining room table studying/doing homework.

I had a couple Cs.

An entire summer, made to leave Jax to go stay with my Dad in Augusta at 17. Had to leave my job and girlfriend at the time, which of course was more dramatic than it I know now. I questioned how my mom and stepdad were doing things.

When my mom asked my methhead brother who she supported at the time, he mentioned I had smoked weed. This was the catalyst. I’m now very close with my clean brother but still question my mother and rarely speak with her.

Me and my brother caught the woods on fire so my mom grounded us for a week one summer. She lasted about 4 hours before she chased us out of the house and it was over.

3 months for poor grades and a bad attitude with two teachers. I was sixteen and allowed to go to school, study, and of course work at the family business (lumber yard). For some unknown reason I always got the shittiest of the shitty jobs. I learned to respect teachers (even the ones I hated) and how to study. Dad was pretty good at teaching me life's lessons.

I got in deep trouble with the local sheriff's department when I was 17. I avoided arrest and jail time, but I was grounded for an indeterminate amount of time. My parents are now deceased, but, come to think of it, I may still be grounded.

I was grounded for three weeks during the Summer. I had committed the most egregious crime of going to see “Robocop” in the theater. Originally, my mom had forbade me against seeing it after a friend who was two years older had nightmares of the toxic waste scene. I didn’t have any problems.

My mom found out and grounded me. When they started playing it on cable, my mom watched it and actually liked it.

My mom said I was grounded for a WHOLE MONTH on Friday. Fortunately, my dad got me off the hook.

(I'm 40, live in a different state, and my mom has a little cognitive trouble some times... but I couldn't resist telling y'all when I saw this thread!)

60 days for sponsoring and implementing the infamous Ash Wednesday Lacrosse Team party....On a school day... A bunch of us got caught but only I got expelled from school and banned from sports. Yes, we partied all morning and then went to school late and mostly unable to walk...lol My dad started a lawsuit because I was the only one punished, seems the school did not want to loose the entire lacrosse team as well as football so they concentrated on me, the instigator. This was 1970 and I have not thought about it in years but it really effected me at the time...And I did play ball and got a scholarship...
