We were prohibited to go outside the house and play. So, the entire childhood, I guess. Lol. Q

When I was in grade 7 I was grounded for life because I came home a little tipsy from a party. I think that was rescinded within a few days - I think I ended up with a couple of weeks.

Technically I am still grounded. I won't explain why, save for I screwed the pooch really bad. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

Well, my mom passed away in '08 and I think I was still not released, so......
I may have tripped over the threshold one tequila summer afternoon my senior year.... Not cool, but she sure as shit woke me up with enthusiasm the next morning at 5:30 to get to my 0600 job! You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

We didn’t get grounded in my house growing up. Up till age 11-12 we got spanked and that was that. I don’t really recall after that what the punishment was, we had strict parents and stayed out of trouble.

2011 to present, so thirteen years and counting. FAA declined to renew my medical certificate because prostate cancer, after successful radiation series (40 plus zap sessions). I asked them, "Has there ever been even ONE case of a pilot who was incapacitated in flight due to prostate cancer?" FAA's answer (re-worded for simplicity and clarity): "We're from the government and we'll do whatever the fuck we want to do." הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

I don't recall the duration, but it was considerable. I got busted for Minor In Possession which was bad enough, but they impounded Dad's car and he had to come get it. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Never. I raised myself since 5. The sole parental unit was rarely around so the world was my oyster. When I started working full time at 10 years old, and starting paying her bills (she was horrible with money, actually horrible isn’t a good enough word, horrendous maybe) that was it for rules and regulations. She would try but I’d just say fuck that I’m going out and I’d stay out with my friends until 5am or dawn. She’d threaten and I’d say fine, no cash for you. But I was generally a good kid, no LE problems, and made straight A’s. I think she was always really frustrated when she would try to regulate on anything because she didn’t have a millimeter of ground to stand on. “You’re grounded”, I’d just start laughing and say “Fine you pay all your own bills and I’ll happily ground myself for a month”. I’d get zero response. POS. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I’m not sure my parents were familiar with “grounding” as punishment. Surely I must have done something worthy of receiving that as a form of punishment, even though I was generally a good kid. Maybe I was extra lucky and seldom got caught.

An entire summer. No interaction with anyone at all. Had dinner in my bedroom, was allowed to leave to use bathroom, do chores, and do yardwork. No TV, No Phone calls, No friends. I stole from my Dad, I was cured from ever thinking about stealing something again. The punishment wasn't as bad as the feeling of disappointment and shame from having my dad tell me "in life there is only one thing lower than a thief and that is someone who steals from family." After three months I was released from my indefinite grounding. I was still allowed to bring my friend on family vacation for 5-6 days. That was the only time that summer I had any human interaction. If not for that small reprieve, I would have probably lost my mind. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

Couple weeks, I think. Grounded from the car. My dad had a rule, wake me up when you get home. I missed it once & he woke up around 2am & thought I wasn't home yet. Peeked outside & saw my car, got a talking to the next morning. Was more of a 'no driving for anything outside school & parental assigned tasks' deal. I was a good kid, and saw all the trouble siblings got into & didn't want a part of that. The Enemy's gate is down.

Roughly from 13 until 17 when I was dropped off at military school. I have an autistic brother so I thought the only way to get attention was to act like an idiot. I also punched anyone who made fun him without any hesitation, which obviously made the school a little annoyed. Alea iacta est |
Nine months of house/yard arrest. After that it was like intensive probation by the parents. I was on probation from the time I was 15-18. So I would say, just shy of three years. From January 1989 until October 1992. My parent’s groundation was far, far more strict and damning than the state probation. During the first nine months, I had to earn back all my stuff. I earned back my bike, then built a track in the backyard. They told me that isn’t how it’s supposed to work, so I had to earn ride time on the track. I really didn’t have any time as there were more chores than I could have ever finished. I played mailbox baseball and got caught. Not nearly as cool as we thought it would be. Some guy chased us down and the kid driving burned up the clutch. We rolled backward and ran over a whole string of mailboxes. I remember the charges as: Vandalism Criminal Damage Impeding a postal worker from completing their duties Destruction of Government Property Tampering with the mail I never fucked around after that. I learned my lesson. The hardest part was seeing my dad look at me in the back of the Sheriff’s cruiser. It was the truest look of disappointment I have ever seen. He was also scared as he said “you did some shit, and I can’t protect you”. The next day when I was home he explained prison rape to me. It had a pretty hardcore impact. The “lol” thread

Restricted to barracks for 14 days for buying too much Coffee Mate in Korea. It was a useless punishment-I was rail security and assigned to guard a freight train the next day. The CO was very angry, but the restriction was for 14 calendar days and I was out for 17.
