What happened with the parents being investigated by the FBI was absolutely ridiculous. Not surprising though considering who was in the WH and the crap they were trying to push. My point was and still is, if things need to change in a district, it’s up to the stakeholders to do that. Yes, board members are elected to represent the tax payers, but just like anything else, any other elected office, some will get in there and do what THEY want to do, not what their stakeholders want them to do. Run for school board, make a difference at that level of needed. Public education as a whole is not a grift, IMO. Sure there are bad actors, but show me one profession that doesn’t have issues that can taint the perception of that profession. And I will freely admit that there can be and are issues in other districts. Ours doesn’t have those at this time. Because collectively, we got on the board and enacted those changes. I know I won’t change your mind and that’s ok. I think we all approach topics such as this based off of our own experiences. My experience with public schools have been positive.

Everyone involved in education, except the taxpayers of course, do not believe that it’s grift. There is a bus driver here that swears that using public equipment for private usage (and him getting paid to operate it) isn’t illegal. Worst part is that he doesn’t even see it to be unethical. He believes that he’s doing “Gods work” by cheating the taxpayers because it’s “for the children”. And he eventually toes the party line of “ you hate kids, bus drivers, teachers, etc” if you complain about it. ________________ People hate you. Train like it.

“Sure there are bad actors” is an attempt to downplay the huge issue with public education (as jljones pointed out).
Nursing, military, law enforcement, first responders. They are held in high regard, even if there are a few bad actors. If you don’t think public education is a grift, then you’re just refusing to lift the blinders to observe beyond your positive personal experience. IMO. Q

The most telling thing is all of these professions have been, or attempts made, to defund them for poor performance. But, not education? Why do we think that is? Education has a direct pipeline into the taxpayers pockets and they always seem to need more more more. Education can completely ignore teaching kids and holding them accountable. And run out of other peoples money at the same time. If it is such an honorable trade, why won’t they wear body worn cameras while in contact with our children? What do you think they are hiding? ________________ People hate you. Train like it.

Another politicians card trick. Unless you also reduce spending, you have to get the money somewhere else. Where I live about 2/3's of that money is for school tax. Very few people ever go to school board meetings, especially those that don't have school age children. We have a senior (over 65) exemption of $300K on the school tax portion, which used to cover your average basic home. Not anymore, by far. No matter what they tell you, it's all about the budget itself, not the appraisals (that just decides how they split the bill), millage rate (that's also a math question over bill splitting), or anything else. People continue to cheer this stuff on while their taxes continue to go up. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

My island paradise, about 17 miles west of Seattle, fits right into the shit-show that this thread is touching on. A couple of stats: The median household income on The Island, as we say, is approximately $159,882 to $172,188 per year. This high income level is more than double the national median, with a low poverty rate of roughly 2.7%. The average household income is even higher, exceeding $228,000 annually Two years ago the Island woke up to an 'oopsie'of money missing from the Schools; several hundred thousand was reported missing, no idea where or how or...but wait two weeks later it was 3/4 mil and then in the fullness of time over a million. Poof! All Gone. Bummer, right? It's still gone. No reporting on it, just an occasional oopsie, nobody's perfect; how about that Super Bowl? I've spoken out, verbally, I haven't written to the Fishwrap yet because I simply don't want the hoo-rah that would come my way. Call me a weenie, I can take it. In meetings I have been responded to with the all-purpose bleat- It's complicated, you don't understand. Well boys and girls and attendees I was on the school board, a long time ago, and served as the chairman of the finance committee. I do understand. I flat understand that if they wanted an answer they could have it by now (I'll say 'probably' because I don't want to get sued) too old-too tired). Maybe they have found it and aren't talking, I dunno. But what I do know is the majority of our over-indulged population doesn't 'really' care. Oh, before I forget-How about them Hawks? _______________________
