We are recently retired and are thinking about getting out of PA for a month this winter. Nothing I would like more than to plant my pasty white legs on a beach for a month then come home to the tail end of winter with the end in sight. Probably mid-February to late March as a timeframe. Planning on driving down and need pet friendly but proximity to an airport is not a concern. Is there a VRBO or something similar for longer term seasonal rentals that you have used? I figured the SF brain trust would know and shorten the learning curve. My experience is limited to weekly vacation rentals.

Ill check the building regulations and see if you can have a dog, not sure a renter can. Give me a few hours.

Even with the dog you should be able to find a place fairly easily. But, based on your criteria of one month and the dog you need to recognize that you will likely be paying a bit of a premium. The place we spent 5 years going to was one of the most reasonable (decent place) priced options. That community limits dogs to 35 lbs and one dog per unit. Monthly rates averaged about $1500/mo but the owners really did not like one month renters. Most required a minimum of 3 months.
There are a lot of Snowbirds that want what you want, and for the same month. That's why I say you will be looking at paying a premium.

I'd check out Anna Maria Island. I love that place.

Florida is a very big state with lots of beaches and prices go from somewhat affordable to astronomical depending on where you end up, so I'd try to narrow it down some. What activites and things are you looking for? You really want to be South of Tampa/Ft. Pierce and further South the better if looking for consistent warmer temperatures....This message has been edited. Last edited by: jimmy123x,

My friend bugs out of WI, usually to FL every winter. They usually leave near the new year, back in April.
