Amazon lists several Faraday bags. Of course, they all quote RFID/radio/etc. protection. What are the chances these would protect against a real EMP?

So what's the theory?
If it's a $2,000.00 transceiver do you spend $1,200.00 to protect it ?

If you cobble something together yourself, or buy something expensive off the shelf... how do you know it will work.

(and I don't mean theory and "supposed to" work, I mean in reality)

Mission Darkness sells a $385 rifle case that is both a faraday bag and waterproof. That'd be nice for firearms with fancy optics (e.g. thermal).

I hadn't, but that's not a bad idea. Perhaps as a second layer of protection.

I don't. I think all any of us can go on is theory. It's worth a shot.

Found this video that I thought was good. It seems this outfit makes some good products.

One of the comments makes a good point, though, of just using their tape for the whole thing instead of the fabric, and then using the gasket. I think this is what I'll do.
