Mrs. Mike will be pleased then, in a few weeks... We usually hang two feeders on the front porch. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. We won't see them for at least a month from now. I look forward to their return every year. Jim ________________________ "If you can't be a good example, then you'll have to be a horrible warning" -Catherine Aird

I hang two feeders also, figured out a long time ago that each feeder has a guard bird the further apart that you separate the feeders the more hummers you end up having. Love to watch them.

Too bad I am gone during the day and wouldn't get to see any, or I might give a hummer feeder a whirl.

We usually see our first ones around April 5th but there have been a few sightings recently. My wife cooked up a batch of juice last night and it will be out today. "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

I have a few Anna's Hummingbirds that winter near my house here on the wet side of WA state. Usually they will go through about 3 oz. of nectar per week. A few more have shown up in the past few weeks. Soon the Rufous and Black Chinned hummers will show up, and I'll have to start cooking up nectar in earnest (about ½ gallon per week). I can get close to 20 birds between 3 feeders in the summer.

I heard this morning they're up to Tennessee. Here is a map that shows their migration. www.hummingbirds.net/map.html I set out 2 feeders every year. I just wish we had more than just the Ruby Throated on this side of the Mississippi!

Hummer spring migration map by actual reported sightings, not just yearly averages or norms. https://www.hummingbird-guide....g-migration-map-2018 Looks like we need to get ready! We usually only have a few but still enjoy them. Endeavor to persevere.

Wife just today took down the feeder from the house we've been renting and moved it to the house we bought, in the same neighborhood. We get them pretty much year round in San Diego. Had a friend visit from Australia; he's a forester so spends lots of time in the wild. He went nuts because he saw his first hummingbird in the wild (near Pomona CA). He couldn't believe we took them for granted. ![]() _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"
