Really, if the controller of one of the biggest blocks of your voting stock started complaining to you about how you run the company, you just blow them off? Especially if they coordinated with other big stockholders (can CalPERS be far behind) Sounds like a good way to get fired.

Doesn’t Zuckerberg own something like 25% or so?

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Sounds like another "Operation Choke Point" gambit but as ChicagoSigMan pointed out, more like a not so veiled blackmail scheme.

Total bullshit.

Smile

That happened to me(really). The CEO was systematically mischarging gov't contracts to increase profits on the commercial sector, I couldn't support it, he told me to have my resignation on his desk in 15 minutes, which I did. I moved to CA to work for a competitor, a couple of years later got a call from the FBI to ask if I would testify against my former employer which was being investigated for criminal fraud against the gov't.

Sidenote. I have my CalPERS withdraw papers here on my desk (not because of this bit, I am retiring).

I heard on one of the financial biz channels tonight that Zuckerberg owns 28% of class B shares which have ten times the voting power.

Basically, they can’t fire him.

Of what? I'm mainly talking about Visa and Mastercard here, along with the major banks.

Sorry. I thought the discussion was about firing Zuckerberg from Faceplant.

Reading the entire thread, I don’t know where I got that idea. Maybe there is another thread I had in mind, what’s left of it.

I wonder how the state comptrollers office would like to get a plethora of emails telling him to kindly let Americans do what they want without outside intervention from America hating liberals?

Who cares? I know some of us here know how to start a company. how much harder is it to start a CC company? Focus on gun sales, maybe even lower the interest rates for gun purchases. Then see how they like it. Generally, when you dont like a business and can see a chance to make money from it, isnt that what being good at business is?

Used guns deserve a home too

I just think there are more who would flock to a company who caters to the gun sellers, and we could make a viable business on it. If you dont like something, change it right? So lets change it.

I care. If this came to fruition, you're talking about companies that control virtually the entire financial system in this country working together with government entities to choke out the constitutional rights of citizens.

Banks are essentially nationalized. The regulations are pervasive and if you don’t comply, you don’t get to own the bank, or even work there.

There is no rule right now, but if you got going and became a buisance, there would be.

When Paypal announced they wouldn't allow gun purchases through their system, someone tried to start a gun specific competitor ("Gunpal" IIRC.) It crashed and burned pretty badly.

More like for extortion. Rather disgusting to see government in New York functions no different than the mob.

What pray tell isn't at this point? From banks, to airlines, to insurance, to healthcare, to education, virtually every significant segment of our society has fallen prey to government and its blood lust for control. And we're all going to regret it in the long run.
