I'm only getting 1%. I'm sure I can do better. Got a favorite with acceptable customer service? I'm mainly interested in MC or Visa. TIA.

Another vote for Amazon Prime VISA. I get the highest percentages back with that one. "If Gun Control worked, Chicago would look like Mayberry, not Thunderdome" - Cam Edwards

Citibank Costco Visa (need a Costco membership). It pays 1% on Everything, 2% on Costco purchases, 3% restaurants and travel, 4% on gas. No limit to the amount of rewards you get, BUT they only pay you once a year.

Actually, that's what I have and have been using for quite a while. It's only 1% if it does not go into your investment account. I suppose one can simply transfer the cash from there to your bank account. Is that what you do? I started to set up the investment account feature at one point, but was put off by the process. Don't remember the details, but it seemed to involve giving sensitive information to a third party. I might have misunderstood.

Discover card will double your cash back after the first year of use. I was able to rack up ($1,050) in cash back through the year and they handed me an additional $1,050 after 12 billing cycles for me to do whatever I wanted with. This was in 2016. I still use the card a lot and take advantage of the 5% they give on the rotating categories. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Copefree, _______________ Mind. Over. Matter.

That's interesting. I will investigate the details of a Discover card (which did not used to be widely accepted). An Amazon Prime Visa card would be my recommendation if you are an Amazon Prime member who frequently shops on Amazon. After that, my Bank of America Cash Rewards card gave me 3% back on gasoline, 2% on groceries, and 1% otherwise. However, I experienced customer service issues with BAC. That card worked in Texas until I informed then to expect purchases from Texas, and now the card is declined in Texas. But I generally use my American Express Blue Cash Everyday card for 3% off groceries, 2% off gas and department stores (Wal-Mart included), since I already have an Amazon store card which gives me a 5% discount on Amazon. However, some smaller businesses do not accept AMEX, which is why I have Visa cards too.
