There is a video from many years ago, where a Father is walking with his young Daughter on a boardwalk somewhere. Someone dressed as a static snowman, he moved. He knocked the fuck out of the guy. It was kinda funny.

I also like the guys dressed up as statues, wearing traditional Mexican clothing made to look like bronze. They sit on benches and move (or grab) when someone sits down on the bench next to them.

My sense of humor is just fine. I have no tolerance for this kind of stupid shit. I hope anyone who does this gets the shit beat out of them or sued the shit of them. That is just plain stupid.

The only Bushman I watch is the one from Granada Spain, maybe because doesn't do as much of the "jump scare" thing, throwing himself at people. Though I think there's some kind of crack down on him and people like him there, mostly rehashed content this year.

A guilty pleasure of mine, but I like seeing the people laugh at themselves. They go from fear, to anger, to laughter in seconds.

When unknown victims are picked at random, there’s no way of knowing how such an experience will affect them. As a minimum it’s heightened heart rate and blood pressure, and possibly a ruined day. Oh, please. This has been going on in Vegas for 20 years. Bronze eyes are bronze. Human eyes are wet. It's good, clean fun, which shows how hopelessly unaware of their surroundings most people are.

The funny thing is, if you look them in the eyes, they grin back, and wait for the next sucker.

These performers are always in heavily public or tourist areas. They are part of the rich fabric of street performances that make great spaces, and great cities enjoyable.

There is no harm. There is no inappropriate touching, there is no intent to harm. It is freedom from a different perspective.

Typically we want more freedom. We want to let people be who they are, dress as they will, and live their lives. If you are a performer, and this is your performance, I say live your life. If you are so fragile that a moving statute fills you with fear, perhaps public spaces aren't your thing.

I don't have a problem with humor. Truth be told I earned my PhD in Practical Jokes in the Fire Service.

With that said... there is a time and place for practical jokes. I've never believed that scaring random people is a good idea as you never know how they will react. This guy would be in serious trouble if he scared someone as a prank for video content and initiated a heart attack or someone got injured fleeing. What if his target jumps back and hits dad carrying a 5 month old and the kid falls and is hurt. Not so funny.

Even well planned, perfectly timed jokes on a victim you know well can unexpectedly go sour.

Bad juju. All's fun if you're young and healthy. If you're not it's a crap shoot, eventually resulting in a broken hip, heat attack, or brain injury. I'd give him a piece of my mind if I survived it. Stupid fuck.

Scaring random people on a random street is a good way to get your ass beat or get shot. I don't think this should apply to areas where street performers regularly frequent. If you don't like that, then find somewhere else to walk. I'd like to think that my situational awareness would not have let him surprise me like that. If he did, I'd have to admit I would have automatically made a "furtive movement". I'm pretty far from oblivious when walking on a city street.

That being said, I'd probably still laugh if some bush got his ass beat.
