Some may remember my post back in November, "deer vs. vehicle" where I was hit by a deer. Well, the short of it. The insurance company under estimated the cost of repairs, bodyshop submitted a supplemental and insurance declared a total loss. They then tried to under estimate the market value of the car, and after almost a month we came to a settlement. I kept the car, they paid me the remaining value amount and I had the body shop rebuild the car. There was no frame rail or mechanical damage, so I felt like this was the best way to go, as the insurance payout wouldn't be enough to buy another car like mine, I didn't want to get a loan for the remainder as I was just about to pay off this car. Speaking of which it was paid off on the same day as in was officially deemed a "total loss". Just how things go. I plan on keeping this car forever so loss of resale value isn't a worry. So now since it's paid off, and back together, I would like to do some modifications, nothing to crazy, but I would like a little more power, and improve on it's already great handling. I would like to do a few interior and exterior changes. One a new head unit. Which is already on the way, an 8" android based head unit. I really missed driving this car. I'm glad it's back, and starting a new chapter. After accident After repairs The body shop fixed a few small items, and didn't charge, used factory subaru oem parts, and did a complete detail of the car inside and out! Very much happy with the work and service. ARman

Congrats WR Blue really is the best color on these. My favorite STI is the 04-05 in WRB with the gold BBS. The Enemy's gate is down.

It's a shame that it happened. I think you made the right call. Amazing that mostly bolt on sheet metal damage is enough to total a car these days. A friend of mine recently went through the same ordeal with his CR-V. “Let us dare to read, think, speak and write.” John Adams

I have always lover of the WR Blue on these. I have factory wheels, that I refinished in BBS Gold, but they are starting to look a little rough, plus the Hawk HP Plus sport pads are dirty ( but stop great ) bastards! The break dust just doesn't want to come off. Sounds funny, but the WRX Hatchback was/is a car that I wanted and when they discontinued it in 2013, I had to have one. It a great, practical everyday sport car. AWD, good cargo area, good on gas, great handling, smooth usable power. I'm hoping on getting somewhere around 315 to 330 horsepower, like I said, nothing too extreme. Just good, safe, easy to drive, with a little more kick in the pants! Also, the body shop replaced the battery, the old one was almost 4 years old and getting bad, they replaced it with a new one, and I have looked, it's not on the invoice. These guys are great, easy to work with and provided a free loner car. Lifetime warranty on repairs. I hope that I never need them again, but if I do need body work, they will definitely get my business! ARman

Yeah, and the difference was $480.00 between the insurance paying to fix it, and what I ended up with. And since the insurance already paid $3750.00 on their original estimate, by time they paid me, I repaired the car and put $3500.00+ bucks in my pocket. So I paid a few bills, and started my upgrade/modifications. So I guess it all worked out in the end. ARman

My neighbor was selling her bugeye, 2002 or 03 WRX, I passed on it. Had a small oil leak & no AC. She moved before I got a good look at it to see if either were major issues. $5k with only 80k on it, 1 owner. The Enemy's gate is down.

Great car! I have always wanted one. I went through an EVO phase back in the day. Glad to see you got it back on the road ______________________________________________ "Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever." - Karen Davison "Man can measure the values of his own soul in the look of the eyes of an animal he's helped" - Author Unkown

DOS ( dead on the spot )! She hit me at front drivers wheel, Initiated a spin, the driver door hit her and flung her across the road the same way she came about 4 feet in the air. She hit me hard enough to lift the front of the car, and break the hoodscoop inlet on the hood. I was doing just about 60 MPH, she was running full out. I ended up backwards in the ditch after actually picking up speed skidding backwards, by the GPS I hit 70 MPH before gaining some control and coming to rest backwards in the ditch. In the spin, my head hit the driver door window and rang my bell pretty good. The driver side mirror hit the window, and made a mark. It did not break, it's still there ( the mark ). Even after the body shop detailing, and myself trying, the mark is still there! This isn't the first deer strike, for me, or this car! That was the third time a deer had run INTO this car. The other two I stopped in time and there was no damage at all. This is the second vehicle that's been totaled by deer. The first was an '04 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I hit at 70 MPH on the interstate. Deer just stand around in people's yards, with people outside in town. It's nuts how many there are! ARman

I know that they are rivals, but love mes some EVO action. There is a person that lives up the road from me that has an EVO, and Nissan GTR R35. ARman

Yeah, I was tempted, but went out of town when she told me about it & it was gone when I got back. Black exterior, no ac. Both big knocks for me. Don't see owning a black car & can't be without ac in Houston. Gut says valve cover gasket for the oil leak, which wouldn't be bad. But if it's rear main, pass. The Enemy's gate is down.

Had a 2008 STi hatch, same era. (Own a CE GRC now) Pretty easy on this thing for mods. Catted downpipe, exhaust, what is referred to as turbo back exhaust. I did an AEM CAI as well, and an electronic boost control solenoid to make the tuner’s job easier on the dyno. Get it mapped with a Cobb AP, then dial back the hp and tq 10hp and 10 foot pounds for the safety of the ringlands. Post, it will be a whole new vehicle. I’d recommend Ohlins and some sways as well, and possibly a short shifter and some bushings. They are very easy to mod just don’t push the EJ too hard with power as they are known to kaboom. So, are you still insured for liability with the same company? I'm glad it worked out. Where I am Subaru has a high salvage so, it encourages folk to get a new ride (get older cars off the road) when difference can be in thousands (40%). Thinking of modifications, suspension has always been my priority.

It's policy hasn't changed. As of now it has full coverage. As for modifications, I'm looking at new up pipe, new catted down pipe, cat back exhaust. New turbo inlet, New cold air intake, updated oil cooler. Air oil separator, to replace a catch can system. I'm looking at suspension upgrades, but I don't want to change the ride too much, so I'm right now looking at all the options. ARman

Awesome! Glad you got her back. I'd be super upset if my car was totaled. It's paid off in 2-3 months and I plan on keeping it at least until extended warranty ends in 2026. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis
