It looks like a Puerto Rico ANG 130

I wonder if it was headed there or diverted

Savannah international is a huge airport for the amount of commercial traffic it actually gets because Gulfstream is located there. With Beaufort right across the river and Hunter AAF in Savannah I can think of several times there have been emergency landings there, especially since the approach to Hunter AAF is over a fairly well populated area of Chatham county and Savannah

There is also a Georgia guard wing stationed there, and the coast guard uses it too

Thoughts with the fsmilies of the fallen

It was a WC-130 (weather version) and headed to Arizona from what I read. May have landed there from PR to refuel?

PR to Tucson, yes, but I heard elsewhere that it was making an unscheduled/emergency landing attempt.

I've spent many many hours on C-130's. Never had a concern in the world.

For what it's worth, I don't think the video should have been embedded in this thread.

Personally I had no desire to watch American Service Members spinout into the ground....I was given no choice in that matter.

ETA:
Classy Snake, thanks.

Well, after seeing the video, it's obvious that something catastrophic occurred. To my inexperienced eye that didn't look like a stall.

What is that black object coming out of the sky from the upper left part of the screen just after the plane crashes and just before the explosion? It appears at the 9-10 mark and seems to dive right into the crash site just before it explodes.

One of the FBW systems could have failed like the one that crashed at Dobbins back in 1993.

I know nothing about 'fly by wire' systems, so my question would be, is it common to use them on takeoff?
