My iPhone 12 has been freezing up in the last couple of months. Especially if I'm in YouTube or in iPhone Messages and do try and switch to something. I have to do a complete restart to get the phone functioning correctly.

Apple did that on purpose after the courts ruled that the authorities can compel you to unlock your phone with your fingerprint, but they cannot force you to give information out of your head. It was a change made for privacy. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

That's a privacy thing. You can lock your phone and Le Feds can't hold your thumb on it to unlock it. It works the same with the Face ID. If you lock an iPhone with the shutdown or emergency call (you don't have to compete an emergency call to lock it but it's the same key sequence) they can't hold it up to your mug to unlock it. Edit - didn't see sigcrazy7's exact response. I replied from the first page.

Get rid of the app? Or, send a notification to the app developer to get going on an update.

Why do you do that?
Because it's usually so very rarely necessary to do so? My wife and I have had iPads since 2016 and iPhones since 2017. I probably haven't had to reboot either of mine but once-or-twice each--if that. "America is at that awkward stage. Alt Ctl Del. Oh wait, that's windows. On my iPhone 11 it's a volume button (Left side) and power button right side held down for a second or two which brings up a screen to select power off and some others. This is what paramedics use to gain access to your medical ID (assuming you have this activated and up to date) Seems easy enough to me. As far as needing to enter your secret code for the first start up... what maybe 2 seconds. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Thank you Very little |
Not for all of us, I've had to do some re-booting and agree Off, Reboot, Cancel buttons would be nice. Oddly enough I was wondering this myself last night as we stopped, started the wifes eyeFone. instead of the slide and die switch using three simple buttons would be great, off, restart, cancel.

I already have conversed with the developer. He is coming out with an updated version. I'm not getting rid of the app (which is no longer available), as it's something I need, and there are no other apps like it. It doesn't cause enough of a problem that I'd consider getting rid of it.

I don't think you'll see the Fruit Company coming out with a plethora of buttonage any time soon. Their design philosophy is expressly anti-button. They only grudgingly put a Home button on their earlier iPhones, and now even that is gone. If you're a button person, then Apple simply isn't for you, and unfortunate if you're forced to use it for work situations, etc.

Man of few words |
That sounds logical and a good idea but what if the phone was powered on prior to a police officer taking your phone and you don't have time to power the phone off? Then they can just have you put your fingerprint on the button
Because the phone is one 24/7 for days at a time and it starts to glitch out after a few days; also, sometimes I just reboot it because I'm a little OCD.
Thank you. | |||

That is not normal. If mine did that I'd want to know why and stop it. Curious: What do you mean by "glitch out?" We first had iPhone 6S'. Acquired those in 2017. So they'd have had iOS 10.x or 11.x. They were routinely updated as new versions came out. Probably the last version we had on them was iOS 13.x. Last year we upgraded to iPhone SE (2020)'s. They would've started with iOS 13.x. They're now both running 14.7.1. Other than a couple times having phones consume excessive battery for 2-4 days following an update (hasn't happened for quite a while), none of them have ever become glitchy. They never get rebooted except when they've been updated. This means they may run for months w/o a reboot.
I know many people who've been exposed to primarily MS-Windows find this hard to believe , but it is not normal for computing devices to have to be regularly rebooted to keep them running properly. I have never owned a computing device of any type that needed regular reboots to keep them running properly. This is starting all the way back in 8-bit computing days, with single-user, single-tasking systems running Digital Research CP/M. "America is at that awkward stage. Because perfection has no use for a restart button. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . Apple addressed that when they announced the new passcode requirement. They made it so that holding the power + up volume key for a few seconds will lock the phone, requiring the code to unlock. So basically, when you realize you’re about to have a police interaction, you just squeeze your phone and it’s locked. It can be in your pocket and you can lock it without looking at it by using a squeezing type action. If the police then take your phone and reboot it, they’ll still need your passcode to unlock, which they cannot compel you to give. Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

as much as Apple has always claimed to be the champion of privacy, with IOS Version 15 they will start scanning every iPhone for kiddie porn so much for privacy...if Apple can hack into your phone and rummage around looking for things, you know they will sell that technology to the feds to exploit

I've read most everything about iOS 15 and nowhere have I seen this. Do you have credible links to this scanning? Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks.
