I use Nature’s Miracle. Don’t know if it’s the best. It has its own smell tho. I’m real sensitive to smells. WW was out so I ordered NM 3n1 Odor Remover from Amazon. Nothing worse than cat pee that I know of, but I’m sure there is some critters that’s worse. My wife left me with 3 cats. Just like little kids, two get along fine, three don’t. One of them pees every now and then on basement steps. It runs down to bottom. Thankfully it’s painted concrete and easily cleaned. I throw a temper tantrum every time it happens. It’s not funny at all. Open to finding a better one if there is one.

What is it that you are removing the urine from? Upholstery? Carpet? Walls?

+1 for Nature’s Miracle or any other enzyme cleaner for killing specific smell. My experience is if the clearer does not have an enzyme that deals with cat urine the smell will remain.

I haven't had cats in the house for about 6 years now, and every once in awhile before I open the door I still get a faint whiff. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

We use a product called "My Pet Peed". It's amazing. Bruce "The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams “It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free." -Niccolo Machiavelli The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

To me the smell of the Nature’s Miracle is terrible, almost as bad as the pee. I used it for years but recently found Angry Orange. It smells GREAT and takes care of the pee odor too. ------------------- "Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered his last round.

Info that V-TAIL sent me: Good evening, Kevin. L.R. ("V-Tail") here — My business is supplying carpet cleaners (“steam cleaners”) to hardware stores, for rent to the do-it-yourself customers. As part of this business, I buy the cleaning products in bulk concentrate and bottle them for retail sales. One of our best products is exactly what you are looking for. Here is the artwork for the bottle label, so you can see what it is: Kar-Pit Kleen by kpkina, on Flickr This is the stuff that you want. You can disregard the brand. Generic is fine (but don’t tell that to my customers!) This is the exact same stuff that is used to treat toilet holding tanks in RVs and boats, so you can go to any convenient RV or boating supply store and get it. It is also the same stuff that is used to treat septic tanks, so hardware stores or plumbing supply places will have it. Use it as a pre-treatment before cleaning your carpet. Saturate the affected area, let it soak in and sit a couple of hours or even over night, and then clean the carpet the normal way. Somebody posted in your thread, recommending Nature’s Miracle. This is sort of correct. The stuff that I am telling you to use is what was in the original Nature’s Miracle, and was good stuff. In later years, they changed Nature’s Miracle, made it cheaper, different stuff, and the current formulation is nowhere near as good as the original.

Glad it’s carpet because “fire” is not a bad suggestion when it’s really bad. We bought our house “as is” and one room had been used by the previous owner’s pets as a big litter box. We tore out the carpeting and padding. The room still reeked. We ended up tearing out the wood floor and baseboard and replaced it all. It was the only way to get rid of the smell. _____________________________________________________________________ “One of the common failings among honorable people is a failure to appreciate how thoroughly dishonorable some other people can be, and how dangerous it is to trust them.” – Thomas Sowell

Hydrogen peroxide. Test in a closet to see if it will stain the carpet. Also gets rid of pesky DNA at a crime scene. Here is my experience: My sister lived in my mom's house and her cat pissed on the carpet and stank up the place bad. My sister passed away and I forget where the cat went, but my mom had to sell the place a few years later. She bought new carpet to improve the salability and I told her to paint KILZ in the places where the cat pissed to seal in the smell. I was very specific to use KILZ. And what did she do? She poured Pine-Sol on the subfloor after the carpet was removed because fuck all. And when the new carpet was installed? It smelled like new carpet, cat piss, and pine sol. That was just fucking awesome.
