“A conservative Canadian province plans to secede from its liberal-learning neighbors, and some residents are even open to becoming the 51st American state.

Alberta, a western province known for its oil and gas resources, has just about had it with the overwhelmingly liberal country - especially since a new Prime Minister, Mark Carney, took office.

The area, often referred to as 'Canada's Texas'because of its political views and oil industry, is home to a small batch of conservatives who have recently gained momentum amidst Trump's controversial call for the US to take over Canada. …”

Neil Oliver and David Krayden Discuss Recent Canada Election and Future of Alberta Secession

In this interview, British pundit Neil Oliver and Canadian David Krayden discuss how in the wake of the recent election Alberta separatism is gaining momentum. Elected Prime Minister Mark Carney’s net zero energy policies could push Canada towards economic crisis, with fears of higher taxes and a loss of national identity.

Krayden outlines why some Canadians believe Alberta could become the 51st US state and how Donald Trump’s surprising support for Carney is fueling debate in Candian conservative circles. Was there a plan behind Trump’s approach? WATCH:

The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Alberta would make a good 51st state, much better than the whole of Canada. Of course, Ottawa will have Nunavut.

Alberta is bordered by British Columbia to its west, Saskatchewan to its east, the Northwest Territories to its north, and the U.S. state of Montana to its south.

Alberta is a better fit with the U.S. - at least, it was.

Of course, if they’re smart, they will stay independent, and go very conservative.

We could buy Nunavut for its natural beauty and wildlife and make it a National Park for canoeist.

If you watch "Alone" on DEFY TV, you would have seen Jim and his brother, Ted Baird, win one year. They have videos on Utube that show the beauty and history of Canada.

I can see Alberta forming an economic union with the US but I don't see them forming a political one

Quebec constantly threatens to do it. Maybe Canada will end up as three countries. In that case, maybe a 51st state isn't such a ridiculous idea after all.

Hence has been threatening to secede from for as long as I’ve been alive. The FLQ engaged in kidnapping and murder. Then the several decades of referendums.

I suggested at one point that Canada take a referendum to kick Quebec out of the country on our terms rather than be continuously held hostage to the whims of the Québécois.

We lived n Montana for most of our lives and I frequently dealt with Canadians from Alberta. When the Looney was strong against the dollar, you could hardly get into Kalispell Costco. A few years would pass and the dollar flipped.

Many of the affluent Canadians used our medical facilities due to their delays up there.

I had a number of Canadian customers who invested in Montana real estate when we had our real estate crash. Great people.

^^^^ Man, I despise these YT click baits and will never click on them. We all know damn well Alberta didn’t declare independence and leave Canada. A Canadian province cannot just unilaterally up and secede. Roll Eyes

Well, you're right about that... but it could move in that direction. Slowly.

How Trump has turbocharged a Canadian province’s quest for independence

The president has upended Canadian politics - and offered Alberta’s seccesionists a new political route forward

The Conservative-led Alberta provincial government has portrayed these policies as hostile to the oil and gas industry, and consequently an attack on the province’s affluence and identity.

The current Alberta premier, Danielle Smith, has opened the door to a referendum by lowering the threshold for a citizen initiative to hold a referendum to a mere 10% of the votes cast in the most recent election. In practice this means that gathering just 177,000 signatures would be enough to put the measure before voters next year. Although Smith claims to want a united Canada, her actions have empowered separatists, who have busily begun collecting names of those willing to sign the petition.

Separatism had previously been relegated to the fringes of Alberta’s politics.

It might be a leverage point to get Canada to re-think its position on its southern border security and to get a grip on its European immigration policy.

I think a lot of Canadians are fed up with the uncontrolled migrations. The demographic landscape of Canada had changed and it’s not better. Canada has destroyed itself as a culture and did it in less than 2 generations.

Actually, they can.

Canada is more confederation than federation, like the US was prior to the civil war. If the majority of the population of a providence votes to leave they're entirely within their rights.
