Here is an example of the truck I was referring to earlier, not trying to sell you anything, just making you aware. This truck stickers for over 36k. You should be able to find them for right at $28,000. These have the 5.3 V8, G80 locking rear, tow package, all power stuff, bluetooth and backup camera. I am currently out of these but have several in transit.

I recently traded my '16 Ram tradesman for a '18 Ford f150. The main reason I traded the Ram off was that it didn't have 4x4, but I also did not like the UConnect system--the truck is controlled through the radio system. Can't trade off the stock radio for an aftermarket one. And two other things about the sound system, you can't turn it off--dealer says that's because of the electonic computer controls (who can't figure out how to design an "off" button?), second was that the truck didn't have a cd player--I guess Dodge thinks everyone streams their music. Anyway, I found a brand new 2018 f150 xlt supercab 4x4 with the 5.0 V8 on a local lot for $44k window sticker. Final price after dickering for about 5 minutes was about $14k off the sticker. The V8 with a 3.73 rear gets about 20 mpg on the highway.

F150 STX could get you what you're looking for.
Available with vinyl or carpet floors, slight step up between the XL base spec & the XLT.

Also, I know Ford offers a 6ft bed on a crew cab if so desired, not sure if GM does.

I put 33k trouble free (drivetrain) miles on my 16 F150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost V6. Only traded out of it because I wanted to get back into a car & the F150 pano roof rattled like crazy, and when they fixed the rattles it started squeaking.

The Enemy's gate is down.

To get a full size GM crew cab 4wd under thirty K. Now were talking. BigSwede. Thanks for that. Is that a deal any GM dealer will make on the work truck?

That is a 2wd double cab. They are out there in 4wd as well, add about $3000. I'm sure any reasonable dealer will do it for you. Go through the dealers internet departments for pricing before you even step foot on the lot. If you like I can locate a truck for you near where you live to save you a headache.

I have a '16 F250, way more truck than you need, but it's a Ford. Solid truck, feature rich, but gets great mileage, even with a 6.7l diesel engine, I still get over 19 on the road.

A basic truck, F150 or not, is going to take a hit on resale/trade value.
