BPM is just that, regardless of the time signature.
All time signatures will still have beats per minute, but they have no direct correlation.

WoodmanYou may be mixing up TEMPO vs. TIME SIGNATURE.
I *think* 4/4 means there are four ¼ beats in a measure.
Your TEMPO legend may say
q = 60, meaning you count sixty of the quarter beats per minute.
Your linked song is cooking along at 160bpm, and may be easier to count as two half-notes per measure.
