Along with hundreds of other software engineers, I was displaced by cheap H1B labor when Anderson Consulting took over software development at BellSouth. Software quality predictably took a nosedive.
At another company, I worked with a brilliant software expert (he is a member of SIGforum, although not very active here). He was angry enough at the H1B abuse, that he switched careers. He got out of software development, got a law degree, and proceeded to fight H1B scams.

Austin/San Antonio is overrun. All in Teslas. They clean out the Costco's and the outlet mall in San Marcos looks like a 3rd world country on holidays.

obvious insanity. rampant fraud with the never ending arrival of someone to explain how needed they are and how we don't have the talent anyway. Talent being we dont know who has a real degree or certification and who doesn't... perfect. There is no end to it.

If we can’t deport them, we can’t have a country. No other issue has made me this angry; our country is being robbed and our political class is welcoming it.
The amount of us natives who are planning our elaborate escapes is growing at an alarming rate. My whole life revolves around it for the next few years. My way of life is over. H1B Visas + Californians = doom.

Politicians, local, state and federal are completely disinterested in this. There aren’t any investigations, certainly no prosecutions and worse, no visas are revoked. Once your “temporary” visa is approved, you and you’re family is here for life.

I think it has very little to do with cheaper labor, and more about the Indian culture and its systemic fraud.
The H1B visas that affected me had everything to do with money. If it had not been for cheap H1B employees, hundreds of us at one of the telecom giants would not have lost our jobs.

I know of a tall building that was largely occupied by Humana. Most of the workers were Indian or similar. Since the plandemic that building has been virtually empty. I assume all of them are now brought over here and work from “home”.
