Ever wonder what public school teachers are secretly teaching your kids? Chicago sent some teachers to Venezuela recently and they had great things to say about the Socialism there....

az4783054AZ recently had thousands of teachers go on strike for more money ("red4ed" movement). Schools closed all over the state for days.
Our Governor is a well liked Republican but had to cave to their demands of a 20% pay increase! It will be implemented over 3 years as I recall. When fully implemented they could be making more than state law enforcement officers.
The strike was lead by a socialist and reported supporter of bernie sanders. I don't capitalize the names of people I have no respect for.

Visitors also noticed the lack of homeless people. Perhaps because most people are already dirt poor (in a country of enormous oil reserves) and millions have fled the country to neighboring capitalist countries!

PDReading is important. I read the article. This trip was a few loony teachers going on a trip. The CTU says they neither sanctioned the trip nor funded the trip. According to the article, the union and the rank and file have distanced themselves from these nuts who call themselves the Radical Educator Collective.

I'm not going to lie, there's a handful of idiots in that group (just as almost any other group).
But it's the small minority that is getting their 15 minutes of fame. But the news here just loves to stir up some shit.
The majority of the teachers that I talk to and live around think that these whack-jobs need to stay down there. Then again, I live in one of a few small areas that show up really RED on a voting map.

Only in a few countries female literacy rates are above male literacy rates, in Venezuela, 97.21% of all women aged 15 years and older are literate, compared to 97.04% of men.
I find those numbers very hard to believe, but then there have been a LOT of people leaving that country, and from what I have seen, they seem to be the poorer uneducated ones.

Maybe then parents would actually get interested in what their kids are really learning in school.

Back in 1990-91 I was on faculty loan assignment to Hampton University. Historically black university. While I was there, my brother in law came to visit from Germany. He taught English and sports. He brought the English writing assignment from his class, to grade while here. He also wanted me to look over them.
We compared the skill/knowledge level of his high school students to my 3rd and 4th year college students. No comparison! His high school students were more than head and shoulders above those college kids! Remember, that was in 1990-91 school year.

#17 was "Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks."
