You Tube stories
It is becoming increasingly difficult to separate fact from fiction on their videos. One that was quite convincing had Johnny Carson and Clint Eastwood both serving together. I think I remember Johnny serving in the Navy in World War Two.

The library has separate sections for Fiction and Nonfiction. The dangerous stuff is fake news which goes WAY beyond the facts.

All those animal rescue videos lately are AI. I'm sure.

Somebody rescues a lion from a leg trap? Somebody else is there to record it? And lions are not native to the area they did the "rescue" in.

Family cat scares off a bear in the back yard...

You get the picture.

You're right about Johnny Carson's service, Navy during WWII, but Eastwood was drafted into the Army during Korea.

You can blame AI being used to generate the videos.

Lots of people are opening new channels and want to get views. It's easier to generate a video using AI...they're probably just going into a wikipedia article and using AI to generate a script and then have AI do the narration along with generating "video" from random WW2 footage.

It's faster than doing the research, writing a script, record the audio, build the video snips, and editing a video.

I bet a bunch of the "history" channels are either being put out by the same people or they're all copying each other.

The big thing right now is to react and comment on someone else's videos; you can tell they're all copying each other because the reaction videos from different channels for the same topic or video clip are typically released very close to each other.

Yeah, I tell my wife not to click on those fake feel good stories because it gives money to the channel’s owners.

Someone texted in a group text a video of a poor kid in supposedly America’s Got Talent. I pointed out it was fake, the guy was just pasted into the set, and I linked the actual artist singing the song showing the guy was lip syncing.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I hate deception, and this (so called) "AI" crap is infuriating.

When it is obvious, along the line of cartoonish/fantasy/silliness, I can abide it as a form of entertainment (even if it is not my cup of tea).

But, the crap that is presented as "real/reality" or anything that "pretends" to represent any form of reality or truth is an abomination to me.

And it will only become more troubling as it progresses.

Basically I suspect every new channel that has popped up in the last year of being a fake AI channel.

The only ones that I sometimes listen to are the HFY channels. They're Scifi Story channels that usually are set in space with Aliens trying to kill Humans and losing. HFY stands for "Humans, Fuck Yeah!". Most of them suck but occasionally one might be good.

All of the above, plus:

These AI videos of people "rescuing" wild animals are going to get somebody killed.

"Oh, look at the cute mountain lion, asking me to rescue it's cub. Wait...WHAT THE FUCK? AAAHHHHHHHH!"

The scariest part is that people believe these animal rescue AI videos. AI is being perfected and I wonder how we will tell fiction from reality.

My main fear is how scammers will use this to steal money. As I grow older and see more people being scammed out of their life savings, I am sure AI will play a part in future scams and will be so realistic that it will fool many an old person.

Several entire channels are devoted to improbable animal rescues, accompanied by mournful, tear-inducing music.

I'm pretty sure no wild animal behaves like those, especially not an eagle.

At least this channel, if you select Description, has a disclaimer of sorts. "Altered or synthetic content/Sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated." (In other words, AI.) I know it is and just watch for entertainment, but I suspect most people will take it at face value.

FB has a bad rap here and deservedly so. AI has taken over that platform and I suspect that 95% of everything posted is AI generated and of course just fantasy. Little to no truth there any longer.

I try to stick to historical videos on you tube that can be verified.

Some of them suck so much it’s funny in a terrible B movie way.

Artificial Cheese has some really funny Star Wars stormtrooper vlog videos.

WickedAI has done some amazing things making AI music videos to AI created Harry Potter themed pop-punk songs. Just waiting for the C&D letter to show. Even though it’s using a lot of AI, and that much is obvious, there is still a lot of work that goes into these productions.

But for every one of those, there’s 100 uploads of crap.

How do these creators get by with TOTALLY BOGUS new stories using the Fox News banner? Most of the comments to that story were quite negative indicating the story was bogus. In my mind this sort of crap goes well beyond first amendment protections.

I posted a thread awhile back.
I would love someone to come up with an AI filter for FB and YouTube.

I have zero need for AI video and pictures. With very little need for AI audio.

I started watching a youtube audio recording of Richard Feynman, and the title of the piece said it was an AI generated voice of his lecture. Why in hades would anyone want that ? He's a great speaker, one of the best of all time in Physics, and I should want to hear that instead of the actual recording ?

It's probably one of those "because we could" brain dead sort of thing.

I predict the day will soon come when NOTHING will be believable. Like the Boy who cried Wolf nobody will view anything because they will think its all fake.

There should be a Law that anything that contains AI must have a banner 1/4 the size of the image area that proclaims AI is used in the production of this message. This banner should run for the entire time of the post.

Because, it gets people to click on it, and they make money, it's all about getting eyeballs on their posted material, true, false, fairytale, copied, doesn't matter, nothing is off limits for AI pirates.

Hollywood is scared and concerned revenue might dry up for them.
