| IIRC the Purge Valve 1997278 is under the hood, adjacent to the intake manifold. The Canister is just that, canister only at the fuel tank.

| IIRC the valve is in the canister and not serviced separately.

His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm.
| On that car, IIRC, the canister is under the car by, but not on top of, the gas tank, and the purge solenoid is on the engine. The valve on or near the canister would be the vent valve. When you take the purge solenoid off, put it end down on a piece of white paper on a solid surface like a table top, and tap on it. If any little black particles come out of it, the canister has disintegrated inside and must be replaced, along with blowing out the line. This will clog up the solenoid so it either can't move and pass vacuum, or stick it open. Didn't you post recently about a vacuum leak? You should not be able to blow through the solenoid in either direction when it is off the engine. |

Are you stating that the solenoid or the valve may show black particulates? I take it you mean the vent valve. |

OK, I think this is getting narrowed down. I will check hoses as well. |
