That's a big deal around that area. Seems like they would be selling more sky's than ever with the tariffs on imported appliances. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

Read Whirlpool's full statement: “Whirlpool Corporation has made necessary adjustments to production at its Amana operations to align with current market conditions driven by consumer demand. This has resulted in the announcement of a workforce reduction of approximately 650 employees within specific production teams at the facility. We are committed to supporting affected employees through this transition by providing access to onsite HR support and a dedicated employee support line, an employee assistance program, and guidance on unemployment benefits through Iowa Workforce Development.” The spokesperson who provided the statement told KCRG that the layoffs are not related to tariffs, but were driven by demand for the types of appliances manufactured at the Amana facility. https://www.kcci.com/article/w...summer-2025/64355047 "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

When I worked at Amana many, many years ago the product production was refrigerators, freezers and Radaranges. Not sure if that is representative of today's lineup. Besides the Amana branded products you could see Montgomery Ward, Whirlpool and other "contract" brands going down the refrigeration lines. Never saw anything but Amana in the microwave production. Saw no layoffs for years but that was primarily because of fairly high turnover of production employees versus maintenance who tended to stay. Lots of farmers that didn't have livestock worked in the "off season" and temporary folks that didn't plan to stay past paying off a large purchase of a car, appliances or home remodel. Students also came in over the summer and went back to college in the Fall. The farmer and temp thing was kind of interesting as the company would rehire the same folks again and again if they were good help. They would disappear for six months or so, then show up in a different part of the plant when times got slow. This was contemplated well before the tariffs. "In a news release accompany a disappointing Whirlpool earnings report in January, Whirlpool chair and CEO Marc Bitzer said the company would look to cut $200 million in costs "and position our business for the eventual U.S. housing recovery."
