Speaking as a guy who was a 76Y30 MOS, ordnance supply and issued guns to a brigade for a living, weapons accountability in the Army is largely a joke.

If you bought something containing MGs, unknown to you, and reported it as soon as you got it, are you still afoul of the law for being in possession of a MG?

Or would the seller be at fraught for illegally selling MGs without the proper licences/forms?

The seller didn't know either. As proof, do you think a seller of illegal military arms would sell you 12 M-16s for the price of a Pelican case?

This would be the fault of whomever in the military let the cases go without inspecting them for contents.

Honest question. If you bought this lot yourself and found these guns in it, would you....

A - Report the sale/purchase to the appropriate (whatever they are) entities.

Or

B - Keep your mouth shut and enjoy your score.

Personally, given current times, I'm struggling with an answer.

Are you kidding? No question.
Just keep it quiet.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

The least they could do is charge them $200 per and give them the rifles back.

While I generally strive to be a law abiding citizen no matter how stupid the laws are, I'd be having a really hard time doing so were I in their shoes.

....and, this is where the Army's accounting finds its discrepancies.

And, where the Left and all their conspiracy theories go to die, yes it really comes down to sloppiness not some nefarious plot where soldiers robotically follow their evil officers.

I think this is the company that received the M16s in "empty" containers, there was a quick shot in the video. Here's their page for empty containers:

A "government surplus store" selling these cases but never once opened them to inspect contents? And, there is a huge difference in weights between an empty case and one full of hardware like that. Please. Somebody is lying. Roll Eyes

ABC13 reached out to Fremin, who is now a faculty member at Sam Houston State University, about how dangerous it is to have random military equipment floating around.

"It's unbelievable to think military-grade weapons would be shipped in containers across state lines. It's pretty shocking," Fremin said.

What a gem. Roll Eyes

Just sayin'... Wink

That being said, and I'm taking the article with a grain of salt, but it keeps stating "M-16's".

I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that they were M-16a2's, and not the current M-4's. So they're probably kinda old. Sitting around in the Pellican Cases for a while.
I still find it hard to believe that no one looked into the cases before they were auctioned off...

Corporal Schumacatelli is going to be Private Schumacatelli in a little bit.
