Congrats to your son, Boss, and I thank him for his service to this great country. I don't have any suggestions for lodging, but as he traverses Kansas City, I recommend he treat himself to a GREAT BBQ lunch or dinner.....Jack Stack. Tell him to get the ribs...he can thank me later. ![]() ![]() God's protection and safe travels for your son! "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Memphis (Mogadishu on the Mississippi) Not sure which way you were planning on driving but if you are taking 78/22 (shorter and faster)to Birmingham I would recommend waiting until you get about an hour outside of Memphis to be safe. Tupelo for example.

Regarding Memphis, Germantown and Collierville are nice areas but are probably well off the path he's traveling, assuming he's coming in via I-22 from Birmingham. The I-269 bypass south of town over to I-55 is the best route, and that takes you through Southaven, MS. Lots of good chain hotels in that area, plus some good BBQ at Memphis BBQ Co. If he wants to travel a little further, Jonesboro, AR is an affordable and clean town with a lot of good hotel and food options. J Rak Chazak Amats
